It’s hard to call it an upset when they handled them three of four during the regular season and had the ECC Pitcher of the Year on the mound.Jake DeCarli threw a CG five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts to lower his conference-leading ERA to 0.76. Hofstra fended off LIU Post, 12-9, despite getting outhit by six.The Pioneers started their ace, Jake DeCarli, who continued to do what he has all season–he threw three no-hit innings while needing only 27 pitches. The Pioneers trailed 4-2 in the seventh inning but they broke through with four runs thanks to two runs on a single by Kenny Daley and a two-run error off the bat of Anthony Brunetti. In the eighth inning, they scored five more runs.
