After finishing the regular season with a 13-7 record, the team came up short in two close postseason games. In their first playoff game in 2023, Whitman led by the score of 4-1 with four outs to go but Smithtown West rallied and stole the win. In their second game, Whitman lost 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning to West Islip. Coach Keith Barrett said that they lost 6 games last season by 1 run and had a lot of close games along the way. He further stated that it was frustrating to have good pitching performances not backed up by proper run support and lots of men being left on base. However, in the upcoming 2022 season, he will be looking for improvements out of his returning players and hopes the experience they gained will improve the team’s overall record.
