Matt Senk Wins 700th Career Game

Written by Jim Ferchland A remarkable milestone was reached on Wednesday as Stony Brook Head Coach Matt Senk earned his 700thcareer win against a hungry LIU-Brooklyn team by the score of 6-4. This is Senk’s 25thseason as head coach of the Stony Brook Seawolves.  The 6-4 victory also extended the Seawolves winning streak to seven and improve their overall record (17-11). Their last loss took place in the second game of a double-header at home to UMass Lowell on March 30.                 The LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds extended their losing streak to three. Within those three defeats, they have let up 20 runs and have only scored seven. On road games, they are 6-13. Sea Wolves Roll Past Manhattan

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yt5aCzo7zqA]The Stony Brook Sea Wolves took advantage of some porous defense by Manhattan to roll to a 10-3 victory and improve their record to 13-11.The offense wasted no time in taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning when an error by the second baseman brought home Toby Handley, and Johnny Caputo followed with a laser beam of a double to get out to a 2-0 lead.They opened it up with a three-spot in the second inning. Jeremy Giles started it off with a single and Andruw Gazzolla was hit by a pitch to advance him to second. Stony Brook Outlasts Maine in 13 Innings

The Stony Brook Seawolves scored three runs in the top of the 13th, with the go-ahead hit coming on an RBI single by Toby Handley to win 8-5. Tyler Honahan started, but was not his dominant self. He allowed three runs on five innings, allowing eight hits and two walks. The bullpen did a tremendous job to hold the fort–with Teddy Rotliff throwing five shutout innings to record his first win of the season.The Sea Wolves fell behind early and trailed 3-0 in the top of the fifth but chipped away on an RBI ground out by Bobby Honeyman. They scored two in the seventh on an error and RBI single by Jeremy Giles to make the 4-3. They tied it up in the eighth on a squeeze play executed by Johnny Caputo.That sent the game to extra innings....

Honahan Strikes Out Career-High 13 in Rout of UMass-Lowell

Photo Credit: Vinny Messana It was smooth sailing for the Stony Brook Sea Wolves Sunday against UMass-Lowell, as their ace Tyler Honahan breezed through 6.1 innings while striking out a career-high 13 batters. They were victorious 10-1.Only two opposing batters did not succumb to Honahan once he got to two strikes. He also allowed only four hits to win his fourth game of the season before April 1.The offense struck early and often. They scored two runs in the second, fourth, seventh and eighth innings. Catcher Cole Peragine led the way with three hits, one run and one RBI. Jack Parenty had two hits, drove in a run and scored one. Johnny Caputo and Casey Baker did the same.
