Disappointing Day for Three Division-II Teams

Photo Credit: Michael Parchinsky Friday was a bitter day for Adelphi, LIU Post and Dowling, who all had their seasons end prematurely in the conference tournament. After upsetting the No. 1 seed Pace, Adelphi was defeated on Thursday and faced elimination on Friday. They staved off elimination with a 7-2 victory against New Haven in which John Thompson threw 6.1 strong innings to record his second win of the season. John Fogarty had three hits and Rob Vani drove in two runs. They advanced to face Stonehill for the second time in as many days and it did not go well. Adelphi Smacks 24 Hits in Blow Out Win over Dominican

Photo Credit: Michael Parchinsky The Adelphi Panthers broke out the bats in a 15-5 rout of Dominican College. They smacked 24 hits on their way to improving to 15-14 on the season.The offense got going early and often. They opened up a 15-0 lead after five innings before Dominican began to wake up.Among the 24 hits was two home runs–one each by Donato Signore and Nick Zito. Tyler Murphy went 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Alex Zykoff went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Signore had three hits, two runs and two RBI. Zach Levinson had three hits as well. Zykoff’s Single Wins it for the Panthers

Photo Credit: Vinny Messana The Adelphi Panthers halted their three-game skid with a 10-inning victory over a strong Southern Connecticut team on Tuesday by the score of  5-4. Alex Zykoff, who came in as a pinch-runner drove in  Nick Zito with an infield single to shortstop–which proved to be the game-winning run for the Panthers. After seven innings, the Panthers actually led 4-0 in this game. Starter John Thompson was terrific–throwing six shutout innings, striking out six while walking four and allowing five hits. The offense gave him some runs to work with.
