Molloy Captures ECC Championship for Second Straight Year

by Michael Malaszczyk After a stellar 2022 season that saw the Molloy Lions go 34-12, the Lions achieved their next goal of winning the East Coast Conference championship. Molloy and Queens played two games on Saturday, May 14th. Molloy needed to win both and did – two incredible games of baseball. Game 1 saw Molloy come out on top 6-5, while Game 2 saw Molloy win 12-10. They return eight of their nine regulars that combined to hit .338 with a .908 OPS and all of their starting pitchers. Hitting .338 as an individual will get you a batting title. Hitting .338 as a team will get you to a regional. The Lions are poised to make a playoff run this year with a loaded roster that will be tough for any team to contain. Molloy Wins Rain-Soaked Game Over AIC, 9-7

by Diana Ramirez and Vin Messana For those Molloy die-hard fans that stuck it out through a long rain delay, they were rewarded with a 9-7 hard-earned victory over American International College. The game appeared to be a laugher early on as the Lions posted a five-spot in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by Matt Overton to score James Messina. They added two more on an RBI double by Chris Peralta to score Sean Hogan and Pete Theodorellis. Thomas Brady added a two-run single to score Peralta and Overton. The Lions continued to tack on runs in the middle innings. An unearned run in the third inning extended the lead to 6-0 and Matt Overton crushed a solo HR to open up a 7-0 lead.
