In a game for the ages, the West Islip Lions came out on top against the Deer Park Falcons by a score of 10-9 on a walk-off hit from Kyle O’Neill. This game had everything, so it was only appropriate that it ended in a walk-off. For starters, the first inning took a whopping 43 minutes. O’Neill got the starting not for West Islip, but he got off to a shaky start. He walked in two consecutive batters to give the Falcons an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. The offense compiled 11 hits, with Nick Girardi, Joe Calabrese, Dennis McAllister and James Terry all driving in two runs to lead the Golden Eagles. Frank Ziegler started and went five innings, allowing one run on one hit and four walks to record his first win of the season.Chris Bauer threw two innings in relief, allowing two runs to seal the victory.The Golden Eagles opened up the scoring in the second inning on a wild pitch, which scored Calabrese. Both offenses struggled to get going in the frigid, cold, weather. After two losses, they were able to come out victorious 6-4 against Elms in a seven-inning game. The offense came to play–they smashed 12 hits with Nick Girardi leading the way with three of those. Anthony Bonilla, Brendan Sullivan and Joe Calabrese added two hits each. They got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI single by Girardi and a two-run single by Sullivan.
