Bayport-Blue Point Returning Just 1 Starting Player from 2019

When the season was shutdown in March of last year, Bayport-Blue Point was in the middle of an intersquad game. “They told us to make sure we clean up good – it might be the last time we’d be playing,” said Head Coach Jim Moccio, who is entering his 22nd season at the helm and won Class A State Championships in 2013 and ’14. “I didn’t tell the guys that,” he said knowing that it would be deflating for them to hear it. Bayport-Blue Point Excited To Compete In Newly-Aligned League 7

by Tony Genualdo Bayport-Blue Point has had a ton of success in the last decade. The accolades include two New York State Class A titles and a 27-0 season. Last year was another postseason berth. Coming out of an outbracket game and going on to knock off the top seed, Miller Place, in the tournament. They ultimately finished with a record of 15-9, but lost to the eventual champs in Sayville. As for this year, Coach Jim Moccio is looking to keep the success going. And that starts with the offseason preparation. “Preparation has been the same as what we’ve done in previous years,” Moccio said. “We have a style of play that we try to reinforce in the winter months and try to peak around the postseason.” The seniors returning have quite the resume.
