Stony Brook Wins Wild One over NYIT
What makes Stony Brook a dangerous team is they can play to any team’s strength. On Tuesday they were in a slugfest and scored 18 runs on 18 hits against NYIT.They held a 5-0 lead in the top of the third with Aaron Pinto on the mound, but he struggled mightily in the third inning. NYIT took a 7-5 lead with the big knock coming on a three-run home run by Louis Mele (3-for-6 four RBI), who now has nine homers and 40 RBI for the Bears. The Sea Wolves responded with three in the top of the fourth on a two-run RBI ground out and a wild pitch. They cruised past Fairfield 15-3 today to improve to 24-12. They’ve now won 14 of their past 15 games. They scored in the first seven innings of the game and starter Tim Knesnik was dominant–allowing only one hit over five shutout innings, while striking out six.
