MacArthur is amidst an impressive spring, boasting a 16-4 record that secured them the No. 1 seed. On the other hand, Carey wrapped up their season with a 15-6 record and earned themselves a spot in the quarterfinals after a convincing 10-1 victory over Mepham in the play-in round. In Game 1 of a best-of-three showdown, the story of the afternoon was the ace of the MacArthur staff, Tyler Bonsignore. Although the southpaw will be heading to Adelphi thi...
by Max Edelman Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s season preview series. Ryan Degnan struck out 14, allowing just one hit and one walk and Carey won on a walk-off infield single in the bottom of the 7th pic.twitter.com/bgpt0MdTQG — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 25, 2022 The Carey Seahawks enter 2024 following a season in which they finished the year in third place in their conference, with an 11-11 overall record. Head coach Doug Robins, who is entering his fifth year as head coach of the Seahawks, praised his team’s performance despite being in a very strong league. “We’re in a very competitive league with Division, Garden City and Calhoun,” said Robins. “Looking forward, we only lost two starters to graduation....
In terms of local events, Wednesday’s College Coaches Camp featured some of the best talent I’ve seen on one field. Additionally, the group of 50 players were able to play on St. John’s beautiful Jack Kaiser Field in front of roughly 20 college coaches from a mix of Division-I, Division-II and Division-III schools. The event began with the players taking batting practice on the field in front of the coaches before transitioning into defensive drills. The outfielders went first, followed by the catchers, then the infielders. Following the defensive showcase, a 13-inning game followed. Several players stood out as top performers and showed potential to play at the college level. Disclaimer: Some pitchers I was not able to watch. Luke Coats (St. Anthony’s 2026) Coats h...

Carey finished the league with a record of 15-2-1 and handed Calhoun their only conference loss on a game in which we covered. Overall, they finished with a record of 16-4-1. They had some outstanding performances, including the League MVP – CF Teagan Graham. He batted an even .500 for the season, stole 14 bases and coach said he had the only R...
Yesterday was our 5th annual MLK Day College Showcase – fourth that was held at the beautiful facility of Max Effort Baseball in Farmingdale. We had 68 players in attendance, 20 college coaches and 2 scouts – myself and Dan Palumbo of the Philadelphia Phillies. A number of players have already been contacted by the college coaches in attendance which is a great sign. The event went smooth and here’s a rundown of 10 players that caught my attention – by graduating class order. He was up to 90.1 with ...
