Tyler Honahan started, but was not his dominant self. He allowed three runs on five innings, allowing eight hits and two walks. The bullpen did a tremendous job to hold the fort–with Teddy Rotliff throwing five shutout innings to record his first win of the season.The Sea Wolves fell behind early and trailed 3-0 in the top of the fifth but chipped away on an RBI ground out by Bobby Honeyman. They scored two in the seventh on an error and RBI single by Jeremy Giles to make the 4-3. The players were Jack Parenty (Stony Brook), Angelo Navetta (Molloy), Anthony Bonilla (St. Joseph’s), Mike Marino (Farmingdale) and Steven Foster (Hofstra). After one day, Parisi had garnered 68% of the vote and appeared to be sailing to the finish line, but overnight the St. Joseph’s crowd went to work. Bonilla not only closed the gap but took a nine-vote lead at 161-152. The Dowling crowd must’ve took it to heart because Parisi came back with a vengeance. They won the first game 2-1 on a walk-off two-run single by Robert Chavarria which scored Cole Peragine and pinch runner Billy McLean.Daniel Zamora threw a seven inning complete game. He allowed only one run, struck out nine, walked two and allowed four hits. It was his third win of the season. The offense was stagnant for six innings, but they came through when it mattered most. They were victorious 10-1.Only two opposing batters did not succumb to Honahan once he got to two strikes. He also allowed only four hits to win his fourth game of the season before April 1.The offense struck early and often. They scored two runs in the second, fourth, seventh and eighth innings. However, the Sacred Heart Pioneers have an abundance of work to do as they sit at the bottom of the standings at 1-14. Stony Brook and the cold rain were not doing the Pioneers any favors as Stony Brook took down Sacred Heart 8-4 in 6 ½ innings. The game was shortened due to inclement weather. Stony Brook’s junior right-handed pitcher Tim Knesik made his fifth start on the mound today. He struggled through 1.1 innings and was relieved by Nick DiEva, who received the win with 2.2 shutout innings of relief.
