It only took halfway through March–and they had to travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla to do so–but Adelphi finally was able to play their first game of the year. It was a surprising 8-3 victory over Nova Southeastern. It was surprising in the sense that northeast teams generally do no come out as sharp as the Panthers did against a 17-3 team that was in their home state. Of course, when you have a draft prospect like Jonathon Mulford, that makes the task more feasible. Photo Credit: St. Joseph’s Athletics The St Joseph’s Golden Eagles traveled down to Fort Meyers, Fla to play some baseball in warm weather. After two losses, they were able to come out victorious 6-4 against Elms in a seven-inning game. The offense came to play–they smashed 12 hits with Nick Girardi leading the way with three of those. Anthony Bonilla, Brendan Sullivan and Joe Calabrese added two hits each. They got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI single by Girardi and a two-run single by Sullivan. Elms pushed across two in the bottom of the fourth to make it interesting for a bit.
