When it comes to evaluating pitchers, the first thing many look for is size. Farmingdale RHP Will McCarthy certainly looks the part. The senior hurler stands at an imposing 6’5 207 lbs on the mound, and with his long strong it feels like he’s right on top of the hitter. He was one of the top 2020 pitchers available until this week, when he announced his commitment to Division-II powerhouse Southern Connecticut State University. He will pitch his senior year at Farmingdale with Justin Rosner atop the Dalers rotation, forming a formidable duo as they look to get over the hump in Nassau County Class AA. I had a chance to speak with him and here’s what he had to say… First off, congratulations on your college commitment–can you explain your experience with the col...
One of the most exciting finishes in the Axcess Baseball era came on April of 2018 at Cantiague Park. In the seventh inning, Chaminade was attempting to make a comeback against Holy Trinity. On a single to right field, Dylan Reilly fired a strong throw and catcher Sean Delahunty made an exceptional play to make the tag to end the game. Now over a year later, Delahunty is now at Lindenhurst HS, who is coming off a great run to make the playoffs. Delahunty was in the news this week, as he commit to Caldwell University. I had a chance to speak with Delahunty and here’s what he had to say. Who are your favorite players in the MLB and why? Buster Posey because he gives it 100% every game, and is a role model on and off the field. Who are your biggest role models in life and why? My paren...

The No. 1 seed Flyers weathered a seventh inning rally over No. 6 Holy Trinity with a 6-2 victory. Starting pitcher Bobby Dahl went the complete game, he brought a two-hit shutout into the seventh before he ran into a bit of trouble but recorded the final out on a soft line drive to Aidan Larkin at short. Nick Hagstrom got the start for the Titans. They were coming off an upset win over No. 3 St. Dominic last Wednesday night. Hagstrom worked around a two-out single by Larkin in the first inning to put up a zero, but the high-powered lineup of the Flyers could not ...
Final: Holy Trinity 5, St. Dominic 3 The Titans advance to face No. 1 Chaminade on Monday at St. Joseph’s pic.twitter.com/EaJY5PKl5f — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 15, 2019 Don’t tell Holy Trinity they are underdogs. In the ultra-competitive CHSAA, the Titans know every team is tough and they also know they can compete with anyone. “I’ve told this team all year that if you play good baseball, take care of the ball, play together as group–they can beat anyone,” said second-year Head Coach Dan Luisi. “Doesn’t matter who they’re facing, just play tough, stay with your guys and compete, you have a shot to win any baseball game,” he said. They jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Teddy Brennan on an RBI single by Stephen...
The Holy Trinity Titans know what challenges are ahead of them for the upcoming season. The Titans play in the Catholic league, which is one of, if not the toughest league on Long Island. They finished last year with a record of 8-13 under Head Coach Dan Luisi in his first year. They know what it takes to compete, and they are hoping that some new additions to the team, along with some key returning players, that the Titans will do just that in 2019 to take that next step. There are a few seniors that the Titans will look to lean on this season. To start, the team will be led by senior, Nick Hagstrom, who is a starting pitcher and infielder. Hagstrom is going to be a big part of the lineup for the Titans but that’s not all. They will look to rely on him for significant innings on the mound...
