Tied again! Jalen Josey comes through with a 2-out, 2-strike RBI single and it’s 3-3 as we head to the 9th pic.twitter.com/cSDmQT8C5G — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 27, 2024 Coming off a magical ride in 2023 which included capturing the NY State Catholic League Championship, it was a bit of a youth movement for the Holy Trinity Titans. Even so, they were able to get hot at the right time and reach the CHSAA Finals against St. Anthony’s. Josey was a bright spot for the Titans. After getting called up from JV halfway through the season, all he did was go 12-for-38 (.316) with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He came through with a clutch game-tying hit in extra innings of the finals. This past week he announced his verbal commitment to Stony Brook University...
Here was the final out of last night’s NSCHSAA Final @SAFriarsBase pic.twitter.com/8b8kvPYgIo — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 27, 2024 Trailing 2-0 in the 6th inning against the reigning Catholic League Champs is an unenviable position to be in, but the St. Anthony’s Friars were not going to be denied this time. Not after coming up close in many instances over the past two decades as the Friars searched for that elusive Catholic League Championship. The 2024 Friars, led by head coach Paul Parsolano, were able to outlast Holy Trinity in 9 innings at Mitchel Field to capture their first NSCHSAA Championship since 2000. “I’m at a loss for words. They are such a tough team – to be able to keep answering the way these guys have. I can’t believe these guy...
by Max Edelman FINAL: Holy Trinity 7 – Kellenberg 0 Sean Atkinson tosses six scoreless innings, and Holy Trinity shuts out Kellenberg at home. pic.twitter.com/xlI4yO1X85 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 30, 2024 Sean Atkinson’s six shutout innings helped the Holy Trinity Titans cruise to a 7-0 shutout home victory over the Kellenberg Firebirds in a Catholic League matchup. The Titans only allowed four hits in the contest, and scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back en route to victory. On the mound, Atkinson was dominant. In six innings of shutout ball, Atkinson struck out six, only walked one and allowed only four hits. Atkinson was also a threat at the plate, as he went two for three with a double and a RBI. Atkinson was one of two Titans to collect mu...

Whether it’s the first or the seventh inning, they are never out of a ballgame. They proved that once again today as they overcame a 3-1 deficit against St. John the Baptist on the road against a tough lefty, as they used a five-run fifth inning to win by the score of 6-3. Catcher Andrew Heppner who had two hits and drove in a run, said “Today really showed...
Dan Luisi helped Holy Trinity win a title as a player in 2003 and now as a coach 20 years later pic.twitter.com/icx3H70hBO — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 30, 2023 Holy Trinity turned back the clock to 2012 as they captured the NSCHSAA for the first time in 11 years this past season. They weren’t content there, however, as they proceeded to defeat St. Peter’s and St. Francis to capture the New York State Catholic League Championship. That team had a remarkable transformation from 2 wins in 2021 to a 14-7 finish in 2022 and then to a 21-8 record and championship run in 2023. Coach Dan Luisi had a plan in place and it worked out perfectly. It should be noted that Luisi was also on Holy Trinity’s 2003 championship team for legendary coach Robert Malandro. Congratu...
For the first time since 2012, Holy Trinity captures the Catholic League Championship! They shut out the 3-time reigning Champs, Chaminade, by the score of 6-0 pic.twitter.com/I13SK0h8oI — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 30, 2023 Climbing Mount Chaminade in late May is no small task. The monsters of the Catholic League have won 20 titles including the last three seasons. They’ve made a habit of winning championships and until proven otherwise, it was not smart to pick anyone else to win it all. With that being said, Holy Trinity has spent the past couple seasons building to this point where they could field a team with not only the talent but the experience to compete with the Flyers. In 2021, they won 2 games. Last season, they made a significant jump but fell short of the ...
Final: Holy Trinity 1, St. Anthony’s 0 WP: Sebastian Velasquez (6.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 7 Ks) S: Tyler Cook Cook drove in DelVecchio for the game’s only run in the 6th inning pic.twitter.com/XuSh5CvKC9 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 21, 2023 Sebastian Velasquez twice has faced St. Anthony’s this season, and twice he has mystified their offense and out dueled their ace pitcher, Jason DeCaro. The Rhode Island-commit took the mound today against the top-seeded Friars and he was usual dominant self, firing 6.2 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit, five walks, struck out 7 and left with a 1-0 lead. Closer Tyler Cook came on the retire Kevin Baez Jr to end the game and advance the Titans to the winner’s bracket. Both pitchers were completely dominant and did not allow a single hit t...
Nick DelVecchio went 4-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored out of the leadoff spot for Holy Trinity in the 5-3 win over Kellenberg @GCsports pic.twitter.com/0Lpb3v7ZAx — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 26, 2023 Coming off yesterday’s 2-1 loss at the hands of Wake Forest-commit Andrew Koshy, Holy Trinity knew they needed to do some home cooking as they look to play for a bye in the NSCHSAA postseason. The Titans wasted zero time, putting up two runs in the first inning which was already more than they were able to compile in the previous game. They did not look, and they were able to capture the critical 5-3 win against first place Kellenberg to split the series. Kellenberg sent junior Matt Reiter to the mound against Holy Trinity’s Gabe Klaritkaitis. After a scoreles...

The Titans finished their 2022 season with a combined 15-6 overall record while sweeping or splitting 6 of their 7 league series while going 4-2 against the city division and a playoff berth. Coach Dan Luisi feels that there is a lot of firepower on this roster and is very excited to get going with the season. “This team is filled with really skilled baseball players, many of them will continue their baseball career at great col...
When Long Island baseball fans refer to the “glory days” of the NSCHSAA, they are most likely referring to the 2009-2012 period in which it seemed like every team had 5-7 Division-I players. During that time, Holy Trinity won two of those years – led by southpaw workhorse Alex Robinson. The big lefty with the high leg kick and overpowering fastball was named the New York Gatorade Player of the Year, posting some gaudy numbers on the bump. He went 7-0 with a 0.41 ERA with 109 strikeouts over 51 innings. He allowed just 14 hits and walked 22 batters. He also fired a couple no-hitters and won Game 1 of the Championship series against St. Anthony’s. When I asked how anyone ever got a hit off him with a low-to-mid 90s fastball in a wood bat league he chuckled and said, &...
