HDMH Titans

Q & A With Logan Koester

Logan Koester, a 2019 graduate of Chaminade HS, was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 32nd round of the 2019 draft. Just two weeks ago, he was leading the Flyers to their 17th NSCHSAA Championship at Hofstra University over St. Anthony’s. Logan is a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher that was named Pitcher of the Year and also hit four HR–which was tied for the conference lead. Here’s what he had to say… Can you describe day three of the MLB Draft–how nervous were you what the past couple days have been like? Day 3 was a nerve wracking day. Before day 3 it seemed almost impossible and it wasn’t really a reality. but after i heard my name get called it felt so surreal and the joy was overwhelming. 2019 has been an outstanding year for you. Are you sur...

Long Island’s Top Pitchers Throw at Suffolk CC

Today was a scout’s dream, as every one of the top pitchers on Long Island were in one spot, throwing to a catcher. During a season, seeing all of these arms would probably take a full season but thanks to the loaded roster of the HDMH Titans, this was all possible today. The Mets, Phillies, Yankees, Tigers and Phillies were in attendance, Here’s a breakdown of them in the order they threw: David Falco, RHP, Center Moriches (Maryland-commit) Maryland-commit David Falco (Center Moriches 2019). Will transition to starting rotation after being closer for State Championship winning team last year. Q & A With Garden City SS Tommy Reifler

Tommy Reifler is a middle infielder for Garden City HS and the HDMH Titans. He recently committed to Binghamton University. We spoke about his success on the field and a number of other topics. Here’s what he had to say. Can you tell our audience about your experience with the college recruiting process and how you decided to commit to Binghamton? My recruiting process all happened during the early summer. The coaching staff at Binghamton watched me play in June and followed me throughout July. I decided to commit to Binghamton because I really liked the program, coaches and the academics fit what I was looking for.  Garden City has been very successful the past few seasons. What have you enjoyed the most? What do you think it will take to get over the top and beat a team like Wantag...

Tim McHugh’s Grand Slam Caps Comeback Victory for Commack

McHugh on his heroics and the big victory for Commack pic.twitter.com/iPsFTVnEsG — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 9, 2018 If there was one person to avoid seeing with the bases loaded, two-outs protecting a one-run lead it’s TCU-commit, Tim McHugh, who happens to have the best raw power of any player on Long Island. The 6’4″ slugger took the first pitch for a ball before connecting and launching a go-ahead grand slam over the center field wall to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 6-3 lead for the Commack Cougars, who entered the inning trailing 3-1 with only two hits in the game. Reliever Drew Vincent came on to protect the lead and record the victory with a 1-2-3 seventh inning. The game started out with both pitchers dominating. Jake Krzemienski started for the...

Jason Diaz: What I Am Thankful For

(Editor’s Note: Jason Diaz is a 2019 graduate of Kellenberg HS. He fired a CG shutout of St. John the Baptist to clinch the CHSAA championship earlier this year. He has a fastball that sits 90-91 MPH and tops at 93 MPH. He is committed to the University of Miami. The following words are his own.) Thanksgiving really brings out the positivity in people and it makes me think about what I’m thankful for. To me baseball is the greatest thing on this earth and it’s not even close. What kid growing up didn’t want to throw a ball as hard as they can and what kid didn’t want to hit bombs over the fence? The game of baseball has showed me that success isn’t just given to you and it makes me thankful for when the times are tough because it just encourages me to ov...

Will Kennedy: Why I Committed to Hofstra

Editor’s Note: Will Kennedy is a 2019 LHP from Smithtown East. He plays his summer ball with the HDMH Titans. After a terrific summer season in which he went undefeated, he also dominated down in Fort Myers, FL where I watched him throw 4.2 shutout innings with six strikeouts in a victory. He committed to Hofstra University last Friday. The following words are his own.) The recruiting process started for me when Titans recruiting coordinator Tom Downey met with me and my family to go over what I needed to do to prepare for being recruited. He advised to me to figure out a major I was interested in, how far away I was willing to travel for college, and when I should be taking standardized tests. He also outlined how important my GPA would be in getting aid from schools. He was very in...

David Falco Commits to Maryland

David Falco really generated a buzz this summer when he pitched in East Cobb, GA and lit up the radar gun with 92 MPH fastballs. The Center Moriches sophomore was receiving scholarship offers from several Div-I programs since then. He announced his verbal commitment to the University of Maryland last night. He spoke with Vinny Messana, and here’s what he had to say.. Talk a little about the college recruiting process and how Maryland came to be? Well as soon as I hit 92 mph at a Perfect Game tournament, I received a lot of interest from top-tier Div-I schools. I’ve been to a lot of camps for schools all over the east coast.  Most of them I had gotten a little interest from, but when I went to Maryland it was different; the whole coaching staff was involved in recruiting me, on ...

Recapping the Top Players in ECR Showcase

Today we covered the Elite College Recruiting (ECR) Showcase at Baseball Heaven. There was a bevy of high-end players being analyzed and observed by coaches representing some of the best baseball programs in the country. Through out the afternoon, I took notes and videos on some of the players that stood out to me. Below you will find notes about the best of the bunch. Matt Brown-Eiring (RHP, Connetquot 2020) Matt Brown (Connetquot 2020) throwing 82-83 MPH, 71 MPH slider and 73 MPH change up. Command of all three, consistent delivery pic.twitter.com/q0oGkI4hf5 — Axcess Baseball (@axcessbaseball) August 23, 2017 Wow. What a pitcher he can be. He checks off all the boxes. The first thing you notice is the compact, clean mechanics from the classic high 3/4 arm slot. He is not the tallest...
