Miller Place Ready To Compete For League VI Title

by Zevan Shuster Heading into the 2020 season, Miller Place head baseball coach Ricky Caputo does not expect his team to miss a beat. They finished with a record of 16-4 in League VII, but they will move up to League VI this season due to enrollment. “I think we’re going to continue the success we had last year. We have a bunch of returning players, a lot of key players returning, so I don’t expect us to have a down year, or a rebuilding year, or anything like that,” Caputo said. “I think it’ll be pretty much full steam ahead from the start.” The familiarity of this team, both from player to player, and from Coach Caputo to his players, plays such an instrumental role for Miller Place, and will almost assuredly attribute to however much success Caputo’s club has this coming season.  “(Our ...

Several Division-I coaches were on hand to watch the talk of Long Island baseball attempt to fire his fourth consecutive no-hitter. The drama quickly came to an end when Gavin McAlonie (more on him later) lined a clean single up the middle which was also the first hit he had allowed in 25 innings. That turned into the first run he allowed all season...

Miller Place Opens Up the Season With a 4-0 Victory Over Westhampton Beach

Miller Place ended 2018 with a sour-taste in their mouth and have high hopes for this season. They opened up 2019 on a great note with a 4-0 shutout over Westhampton Beach. Gavin McAlonie fired four shutout innings for the win. “He can do it all,” said Head Coach Ricky Caputo. “He’s an outstanding pitcher as you saw today–At the plate, when he gets two strikes I almost feel like he’s getting better. He’s going to play third base, he’ll play a little short when Kevin Bowrosen gets on the mound. If it wasn’t for him and his talent and his versatility, we’d be a whole different ballclub,” he added. They got on the board in the third inning on an RBI ground out by McAlonie to score Jordan Syperski. They added two more on RBI sin...
