Auffant and the Ravens Defense Shine as Franklin Pierce Wins 8-0 Over Molloy to Force Deciding Game

by Chris Prystupa Andres Aufant (Center Moriches) went 5.2IP in relief allowing only 5 hits and keeping the Molloy bats quiet. Here is his reflection on his outing and FPU’s win today. pic.twitter.com/QLCjPN5x01 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 21, 2022 Everything seemingly fell into place today for the #6 Franklin Pierce University Ravens as they defeated the #2 Molloy Lions by a score of 8-0. After a scoreless first inning the Ravens took advantage of back-to-back to back errors committed by the Lions to jump out to a 2-0 lead. In the bottom half of the second inning the Ravens made one of the best decisions and summoned Andres Auffant out of the bullpen and never looked back.  Auffant, a Center Moriches alum, had just about everything in his arsenal working today as he went 6 ...

Ravens Edge Panthers By A Field Goal, 20-17

Throw out everything you thought you knew about northeast baseball in February. This one couldn’t have been any more opposite. In a game featuring two Division-II programs known for their pitching in a conference dominated by pitching in a climate conducive to low-scoring games, this one bucked the trend and it turned into a football score in which the Franklin Pierce Ravens edged the Adelphi Panthers, 20-17. It was Opening Day for the Panthers, coming off one of their best seasons in program history so there was a great turnout despite the weather. Nic Luc got the ball for Adelphi, but the Ravens did not wait long to get on the board. Jonel Ozuna clubbed a two-out, two-run shot to right field to take an early 2-0 lead. That was not the last time we heard from him this afternoon and ...

Adelphi’s Ninth Inning Rally Comes Up Just Short, Fall to No. 8 Franklin Pierce 4-3

It’s not often that the No. 1 seed has to face a seasoned and battle-tested No. 8 seed such as Franklin Pierce. The host Adelphi Panthers dropped the first round of the NCAA Division-II East Regional, 4-3, to the NE-10 Champions. In front of a packed house at William J. Bonomo Field the top-seeded Panthers fell behind 2-0 in the second inning on a two-run double by Jonel Ozuna to put the Ravens ahead 2-0. This came after a dominant first inning for Baram who blew 91 MPH fastballs past two of the first three batters in a 1-2-3 inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Lucas Terwilliger got the Panthers on the board with an RBI single to cut the deficit in half. The Panthers missed several run-scoring opportunities in this game, failing to capitalize on five Ravens’ errors. It was a m...

Cody McPartland Stymies Adelphi, Leads Franklin Pierce to 7-3 Win

Long Island native Cody McPartland picked up right where he left off in 2016 with Dowling. The senior RHP came on in relief for Franklin Pierce in the fifth inning of a 3-1 game and fired four shutout innings with six strikeouts in the Ravens’ 7-3 victory over Adelphi. “Coming out of the ‘pen isn’t much different,” he said in regards to pitching in relief verse starting the game. “You still have to come in and throw strikes regardless of if you start the game, come in the fifth or close the game out, you still need the same outcome…outs!” The Ravens took advantage of some miscues by the Panthers’ defense early in the game. Panthers’ starter Ed Baram had really good stuff, but attempted to throw a runner out at third on a bunt and ...
