Frankie Moscatiello

Q & A With Frankie Moscatiello

Who were some influential people in your life growing up? A lot of people influence me. Mom and dad always helped me with no matter what I needed to do – getting to the gym, getting to lessons, getting to practice games every day. They were always there for me. My grandfather was at every practice, every game, everything that I ever had. If my parents couldn’t bring me somewhere, he would bring me there. They were a big influence on me, and I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing now if it wasn’t for their support. Back when Coach [Andrew Aschettino] took over, [Rocky Point] was a lacrosse town. When you were in high school, did it become more of a baseball town at that point? Yeah, while Aschettino was the coach of Rocky Point, he had a pretty good resume. I can’t remember how many years ...

Chris Pennell Signs With the Rockland Boulders

St. Thomas Aquinas is coming off a 39-win season in which they captured the 2018 East Coast Conference Championship in a 3-2 thrilling victory over Molloy. They reached the NCAA East Regional Championship–even winning their first two games–before ultimately having their season ended by Southern New Hampshire by the score of 6-0. It is no surprise that four of their players that were key cogs in that success are now playing professional baseball. Giovanni Dingcong (Daly City, CA) and Joey Pena (Brooklyn, NY) were both drafted by the Oakland Athletics, while RHPs Frankie Moscatielll (Rocky Point, NY) and Chris Pennell (Mamaroneck, NY) were both signed by the Rockland Boulders, who they share their stadium with. All four of these player participated in our Axcess Invitational back...

When Giovanni Dingcong steps to the plate, the fielder’s might as well vacate the infield and all stand along the warning track. The powerful outfielder launched one of his patented majestic home runs (15th of season) to give...

T.J. Santiago Dominates in Adelphi’s 5-2 Win on Opening Day

More than one player referred to Opening Day as a holiday during pregame warmups. Adelphi’s starting pitcher, TJ Santiago, had the energy of a kid on Christmas morning but his splitter acted more like the Grinch. The senior RHP was lights out (7 IP, 9 K, 0 R, 2 H, 2 BB) in Adelphi’s 5-2 win over perennial powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas. It was a tremendous match up between a member of our 2016 All-Long Island team and Frankie Moscatiello (Rocky Point ’14), who hit 92-MPH with his first pitch of the game. Both pitchers have a chance to get drafted this year. “I was able to use all my pitches in various counts,” said the Panthers’ ace. “First game of the year is always a little more special,” he added. The offense got off to a slow start, but in...
