On the evening of June 1st at Middle Country Athletic Complex, the Cougars were once again led by their ace, Stony Brook-commit Evan Kay and they defeated the Farmingdale Dalers, 2-1. Kay was dominant out on the mound allowing only one unearned one in a seven inning complete game shutout. He struckout 11 batters and walked none. Kay attacked Dale hitters early in the count with a sharp slider, a nasty changeup and a powerful fa...

After dropping Game 1 in eight innings, Port Washington fought back to win the next two games, toppling the reigning champions. They now aim to capture their first County Title since 1970. Similarly, Farmingdale was shut out in ...

by Max Edelman (Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s season preview series.) In his 22nd year as head coach of the Farmingdale High School Dalers, head coach Frank Tassielli enters the year coming off what was yet another successful season for his team. The Dalers finished the 2023 season with an 18-3 record that saw them finish second in their league during the regular season. Despite winning their opening round of the playoffs over Syosset, the Dalers eventually fell short of their goal, falling to Plainview in three games. “We had a great season.” Tassielli said. “We started off pretty hot, we handled our crossover games pretty well, which set us up for our league play. Our division is a pretty tough division and we were 12-0. But we ended u...
Andrew Lenski had 2 hits including a 3-R shot in the first inning as Plainview JFK advances to the Nassau Class AA Finals against Massapequa @GCsports pic.twitter.com/42Y4IQOBPX — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 27, 2023 Last year, Farmingdale defeated Plainview JFK in the Nassau AA Semifinals and that was something that was not lost on the returning players. The Hawks, who graduated one of their best players in program history last season in Dylan Banner, were able to rely behind last year’s postseason exit and exercise those playoff demons against their crosstown rivals. The teams split the first two games of the series with the road teams winning each game. Plainview made sure to take some of the anxiety out of the home crowd as they drew back-to-back walks to start the g...
Farmingdale takes Game 1 of the Nassau Class AA Semifinals Farmingdale 4, Plainview JFK 2 Michael Craig went 3-for-4 and also records the save with a 1-2-3 seventh inning Game 2 will be on Wednesday at Farmingdale pic.twitter.com/FwJA8wy8Px — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 23, 2023 Trailing 2-0 against a pitcher that has allowed virtually nothing all season, things weren’t looking great for the Farmingdale Dalers. But baseball is a funny game that doesn’t make sense sometimes. After notching his 12th strikeout of the game, Mike D’Ambrosio hit Farmingdale’s No. 9 hitter, Behar, to bring the top of the order. JoJo Burriesci ripped a single to put runners in scoring position and No. 2 hitter, Michael Craig, followed with an RBI double into the right center fi...
Farmingdale State College Head Coach Keith Osik notched career win No. 400 yesterday in a victory over Mount St. Mary’s. Osik is in his 18th season at the helm for the Rams, he took over in 2005 and has led them to 8 Skyline Conference Championships and one College World Series appearance in 2009. They also reached the NCAA Regional Finals in 2012 as they were one win away from getting back to the CWS in Appleton, WI. Osik was a 10-year big leaguer; debuted in 1996 at Shea Stadium and played right up until getting hired by Farmingdale in July 2005. It is a very interesting and unique path from the Major League clubhouse to a Division-III program that had been middling. Upon his arrival, Osik transformed the program into a Division-III powerhouse and they captured the Skyline Conferen...
by Nick Cipolla 🚨 Sophomore Jordan Welch hits an opposite field walk-off HR to complete the comeback win for Farmingdale and deliver Massapequa their first loss of the season 🚨 pic.twitter.com/FK8STX7jor — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 2, 2022 In the 2022 season, Farmingdale was one of Nassau County’s best teams. They finished the regular season with an 11-4 league record while having a plethora of studs on the roster. Unfortunately, their run ended in the Nassau AA Final against rival and perennial powerhouse Massepequa, who won their 5th straight county title. Farmingdale Head coach Frank Tassielli felt that he had a championship level roster in 2022. “We felt pretty good against whomever our opponents would be”, said Tassielli, “We had a great mix of players from all grade le...

The 10-year MLB veteran has seen it all on a baseball field and in his 17-year tenure as head coach. When discussing his freshmen class he said, “it might be the best depth we’ve brought in. It’s pushed the other guys,” he added. The Rams are coming off a 2022 season in which they finishe...
Paul DuLanto’s 2-R double in the second inning was the difference in Massapequa’s 2-1 victory in Game 1 pic.twitter.com/kiIQ0OIN28 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 29, 2022 Pitching for the first time since Massapequa‘s game against Freeport almost one month ago, Hofstra-commit Matt Hannon stepped up to answer the call in Game 1 of the Nassau County Class AA Championship against rival Farmingdale. Legendary head coach Tom Sheedy told me after the game that Hannon was a huge X-Factor for the Chiefs, as they did not know what to expect from him. He told reliever Damian DiGiuseppe to be ready from the first inning on. Fortunately for the Chiefs, he was not needed until much later than that. The Chiefs came away with the 2-1 victory as Hannon settled in after allowi...
by Chris Prystupa Here’s the winning pitcher Thomas O’Niell who went a complete game 5IP striking out 6 batters on his teams big day pic.twitter.com/rfBpSkIL9Y — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 25, 2022 In a huge game two of a three game series between No.4 Farmingdale and No.1 Plainview JFK, the Dalers came to play. Farmingdale came out firing on all cylinders; pitching and hitting well and seized many opportunities as they defeated Plainview in five innings (run-rule) with a final score of 12-1. The Dalers immediately got it started in the bottom of the first inning as Michael Craig singled and Tagliavia walked thus setting the table for the heart of their order. Following that Licata put his team up 1-0 by beating out an RBI infield single. After a leadoff single and walk, Th...
