Vinny Rice was named Most Outstanding Player of the Skyline Conference Tournament pic.twitter.com/IWOlmeoLyL — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 7, 2019 For much of the past two months, Farmingdale State has showed that they were the top team in the Skyline Conference and they made it official by capturing the crown with an 8-5 victory over SUNY Old Westbury on their home turf. Senior Vinny Rice was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. He had a huge championship game beginning with a two-run double in the first inning to get the Rams on the board. “This means everything,” he said. “The best thing about going to Farmingdale is that there’s one goal and that’s to win,” he said following the game. “Time and time again we’re al...
Beginning tomorrow, we will have a series of 16 podcasts filmed on Thursday evenings at The Turning Point in Farmingdale. Our first guest will be Farmingdale HS ace, Justin Rosner. He is coming off a terrific season in which he led the Dalers to a postseason appearance and won two of their postseason victories; including a complete game gem against Calhoun. The show will begin at 7pm, come on down and hangout!
Farmingdale is onto the semifinals! FINAL: Farmingdale 8 Calhoun 1 WP – Justin Rosner (Complete game) pic.twitter.com/4sD41oRuzC — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 20, 2018 For the second time in the past ten days, Farmingdale was on the brink of elimination. Again, they came out on top. The Dalers defeated Calhoun by a score of 8-1 and secured a spot in the Class AA semifinals. When the pressure is at its climax, Justin Rosner always finds a way to stay calm. Once again, his best stuff came in an elimination game. The sophomore finished the day going the distance, allowing only one earned run while striking out nine. “Everything was working for me, my slider I like to keep them off balance to start them out and then come in hard with the fastball,” said Rosner. &...
Justin Rosner talks about how he got out of the bases loaded nobody out situation. pic.twitter.com/IHmyo8i1gJ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 12, 2018 The weather may not have been ideal for playoff baseball, but that didn’t effect the competitiveness from both Farmingdale and Syosset. Prior to first pitch, there was little-to-no chance that the playoff contest was going to start on time, due to heavy rain. However, when the umpires agreed to allow the game to start on time, a roar of excitement came from both dugouts as both teams were fired up for the do-or-die game. Considering the poor playing conditions, there was no telling how this game would pan out. The Dalers came out of the gates firing, scoring three runs in the first inning highlighted by a Sean Sullivan 2-run...
Joined by Dan Campanelli and Joseph Murphy , our co-@DigmiNation Players of the Game. Murphy fired a CG and Campanelli had 3 RBI and threw out both attempted base stealers pic.twitter.com/dTvMfpVjh0 Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 5, 2018 When St. Joseph’s recruited Joseph Murphy, an Axcess Baseball All-Long Island RHP in 2017 at Suffolk CC, they did so with the intention of pitching important games against conference rival Farmingdale State. After all, he was second in the nation in lowest ERA at 1.21. In order words, he was brought in to pitch a game like today. With both teams having won their first game of the tournament, it was a crucial game to build momentum and enter championship Sunday in position to only have to win once. Murphy was everything they couldR...
Our @DigmiNation Player of the Game is Farmingdale RHP Matthew Constantine who came in relief in the third inning with runners on 1st & 2nd 0 out and recorded the final 21 outs allowing just 1 run. Farmingdale won 4-1 pic.twitter.com/S52kiQBhCV Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 4, 2018 No. 1 seed Farmingdale State Rams stayed red-hot with a 4-1 victory over No. 4 USMMA on Friday afternoon, behind a dynamic relief appearance by senior Matthew Constantine. The West Babylon native came in with runners on 1st & 2nd, none out in the third inning and wound up recording the next 21 outs and earning the victory. If there was any question as to how fired up these teams were entering the game, that was quickly answered in the top of the first inning. After a leadoff triple by J...
Game 1 Timely hitting and a dominant performance by starter David Otero Jr. helped push Farmingdale to a 3-0 victory over Old Westbury in game one of the double header. A pitchers duel with a little bit of defense helped keep the score at 0-0 until the seventh inning. Farmingdale starter David Otero Jr. pitched a complete game, giving up no runs and four hits. He ran into trouble in the sixth inning when second baseman Jesse Russo lined a triple in the gap to start the inning. He settled in after that, inducing two ground balls to second baseman Tyler Schrimpf. Schrimpf finished out the inning by making a run-saving diving catch down the right field line to preserve the game at 0-0. The bats for both teams were silent for most of the day. Farmingdale registered seven hits while Old Westbur...
Robbie Keane‘s played through sleet, through rain and through snow–but nothing quite like the wind today. The senior SS had a huge day at the plate in Farmingdale‘s 13-9 victory over previously undefeated Port Washington. He admitted it was aided–at least in part–by a 45+ MPH sustained wind through out the day. He smacked a game-tying three-run home run in the fifth inning to right to even the score, 8-8, and then the go-ahead two-run triple to left field to give Farmingdale a lead of 10-9. “It helped and hurt us a lot,” he said following the game. “In the field we had a lot of balls just swirling in the air–lot of balls we should’ve caught just dropped and it helped us a little when we were batting–balls just carried. I...
