Fall Ball Series 2022

Fall Ball Series Powered by Baseball Lifestyle: Adelphi

Cooper Johnson comes through with the walk-off RBI single to propel Adelphi to a 5-4 comeback victory over St. Rose ! pic.twitter.com/5v1qCe1RA5 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 10, 2022 Entering the 2023 season, the Adelphi Panthers have what head coach Bill Ianniciello called a “good problem” and that’s having to find at bats for some talented players. With the cancellation in 2020, Adelphi – like many collegiate teams – has an abundance of upperclassmen on the roster. But in the case of the Panthers, they also have a number of quality freshmen, sophomores and juniors that would warrant starting jobs on many other competitive teams in the region. The big loss, however, will be 3B Matt Alifano. The 2021 Axcess College Player of the Year followed tha...

Fall Ball Series Powered by Baseball Lifestyle: Stony Brook

DOGPILE SZN: COMMENCE 💪 🌊🐺 x @evangiordano12 pic.twitter.com/XZ21Ry4wgb — Stony Brook Baseball (@StonyBrookBASE) May 21, 2022 You can’t blame them for feeling like there’s some unfinished business. The seniors for the Stony Brook Seawolves have dealt with circumstances beyond their control for each of their previous three seasons of collegiate ball – COVID in 2020, the infamous “rainout” in the championship in 2021 and then the America East ruling that Stony Brook was ineligible to compete for the conference tournament in 2022. Each situation was different but frustrating in their own way. Last year seemed like the most avoidable, as the commissioner simply could’ve allowed the Seawolves to participate in the tournament, but ruled against it since they w...

Fall Ball Series Powered by Baseball Lifestyle: Molloy University

Longtime coach Joe Fucarino has built Molloy into one of the best Div-II programs in the region and they are looking to build on the recent success pic.twitter.com/Yb17jFthpk — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 21, 2022 In 2020, we saw a Molloy program that appeared to be on the verge of breaking out. Obviously, that was thwarted by the pandemic, however, with the bulk of that team returning for the next two years it was clear that they were looking to capitalize and win a couple conference championships. That’s exactly what they were able to accomplish – led by longtime head coach Joe Fucarino and a loaded roster that was among the most talented Division-II teams in the nation. The Lions were named the 2021 Axcess College Team of the Year and followed that up with a...

The 10-year MLB veteran has seen it all on a baseball field and in his 17-year tenure as head coach. When discussing his freshmen class he said, “it might be the best depth we’ve brought in. It’s pushed the other guys,” he added. The Rams are coming off a 2022 season in which they finishe...

Fall Ball Series Powered by Baseball Lifestyle: Long Island University

Time to hit the #RoadToOmaha! 🎥 @LIU_Baseball pic.twitter.com/GgocYVXXDj — NCAA Baseball (@NCAABaseball) June 1, 2022 Simply put, 2022 was one of the best seasons in program history for the LIU Sharks. They set a program record with 37 wins, they captured the NEC regular season title and the NEC Championship with a 7-0 win over Bryant. Their season came to an end in the NCAA Regional at College Park where they lost to No. 1 Maryland and No. 2 Wake Forest. They had a lot of standout individual performers as well. RHP Josh Loeschorn (11-3, 3.06 ERA) and E.J. Exposito (13 HRs, .864 OPS) were selected in the MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Atlanta Braves, respectively. Both of those players were standout performers and also came over from LIU Post when they were a Division-II progr...

Fall Ball Series Powered by Baseball Lifestyle: Hofstra University

Steve Harrington with a walk-off HR in a 7-6 victory for Hofstra ! pic.twitter.com/r7tJHFgMqA — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 2, 2022 There are not many better feelings in the world than proving people wrong. Hofstra was picked to finish ninth in the preseason CAA coaches poll. On May 29 in the CAA Championship, they defeated Northeastern, 7-6, in walk-off fashion on a hit by pitch by Ryan Morash to score Brian Morrell. It was a truly stunning finish considering they had never won a conference championship in the program’s history and they won all four games by one-run including three walk-off wins. Despite losing both games in the regionals, the program is still riding high off the momentum from that CAA Championship. Perhaps no school in the country can boast that they...

Fall Ball Series Powered by Baseball Lifestyle: Queens College

(This is the first part of our popular Fall Ball Series – special thanks to Baseball Lifestyle for sponsoring the series! Make sure to check them out here.) 2022 was an exciting season for the Queens Knights – who finished with their highest win total (26) since 1998 (29) and advanced to the ECC Finals against Molloy. They defeated No. 3 Mercy and No. 4 St. Thomas Aquinas in the playoffs to advance to the championship round. Coach Chris Reardon‘s team refused to go down quietly in any game. They scored 10+ runs in 13 games. They were led offensively by freshman Marc Cisco, who had one of the finest seasons not only in program history but also in the nation. The Long Island City product started all 43 games and compiled a ridiculous triple slash line of .435/.526/.747 whic...
