Final: Oil City 4, Black Diamonds 3 WP: Kellen Franquiz@EcybTournaments pic.twitter.com/SejMpRZP8Y — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 15, 2020 Tonight was two outstanding games of baseball between the 11U Oil City Bandits and Black Diamonds at Mitchel Field. Each game came down to the final turn at bat. The teams came in separated by just 1.5 games in the standings so it would have playoff ramifications regardless of the outcome. Here’s how it went down. Game 1 It was an outstanding pitcher’s duel between Matt Tomasello and Rocco Liguori. The teams traded zeros in the first inning but Oil City broke through in the home half of the second on an RBI ground out by Kellen Franquiz who scored Liguori – who singled and stole second to get into scoring position. by James Ryder Final: Warriors win 7-6. 12U Junior Ducks Put On Offensive Clinic In Double Header Sweep

It’s not often that a team scores 17 runs in the first game of a double header and it’s the lower scoring of their two games of the day. The 12U Junior Ducks put on an absolute clinic Friday night at Cantiague Park in a double header against the East Coast Cannons – even dealing with some steady rain in the second game. Here’s how it went down. Game 1 The first couple innings were a back-and-forth battle. The East Coast Cannons put up three runs in the top of the first inning – thanks to two singles and three errors by the Ducks. That was just the beginning of a wild offensive game, though. The Jr. Ducks responded with a six-spot in the home half of the first. They batted around and the runs came in on a two-run error off the bat of Paul Cucuzzo, an RBI ground...

Team Francisco Powers Its Way Past LIB

by Ethan Marshall Dylan Santucci on his 350+ foot homer: pic.twitter.com/eC0CRqsed3 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 31, 2020 Team Francisco, led by Jaden Grose on the mound and Isaiah Marino and Dylan Santucci, among others, dominated en route to a 9-1 victory in five innings. Marino went 2-3 with a triple and inside-the-park homer and Grose tossed a complete game, striking out seven and allowing just one run on six hits. Perhaps the biggest play of the game came courtesy of Team Francisco’s cleanup hitter, Dylan Santucci in the third inning, when he blasted a solo homer over the fence in left field and beyond the fence of the neighboring field. The ball likely traveled more than 350 feet. After the game, Santucci jokingly guessed the ball traveled an estimated distance of 450 ...

LI Storm White Takes Down Diamond Spikes, 6-4

By Jared Valluzzi It was a wonderful summer night with a nice breeze at Wantagh Park for a 12U matchup between LI Storm White and Diamond Spikes. For these two teams, they both entered the contest winless on the year and were hungry to change that.  Coming into the game each team really struggled scoring runs as they combined for just three runs through the 6 combined games they played. On this day it was different, it was both of these offenses coming right out of the gate swinging.  After LI Storm White got an early double play to start the first inning, it was Diamond Spikes really getting the bats going. With a man on first and two away, Michael Murphy hit a big time triple to drive in Jordan Iglio to give the Spikes an early 1-0 lead. After a wild pitch, Murphy would also cross home p...

The East Coast Cannons not only escaped Mother Nature, they escaped a late game comeback by the Long Island Thunder-Gaghan. The game ended in thrilling fashion with the Cannons holding onto a 6-5 victory.  The Cannons, out of Syosset, took the lead in the top of the first off of Max Spector’s 2 RBI double.
