GAME RECAP: Smithtown Bulls Sweep Double Header From Sharks Baseball Academy
by Jacob Infald On the afternoon of June 22nd, the Smithtown Bulls took on the Sharks Baseball Academy in a highly-anticipated doubleheader in the East Coast 10u Summer Showdown National division. In two games, that seemingly were the polar opposites of one another, the Bulls won them both, 18-11 and 3-2 as they extend their winning streak to six wins to start the season, and the Sharks suffer their first two defeats of the summer. GAME RECAP: RVC Tigers Hold On For 4-2 Victory Over Queens/Nassau Lions
by Jacob Infald On the afternoon of June 9th, the RVC Tigers took on the Queens/Nassau Lions in a doubleheader on opening day of the ECYBL 9u Summer Showdown American League at Plainedge Park. In the first game of the doubleheader, a contest that featured strong pitching performances from both sides, the Tigers were able to manufacture enough runs to secure a 4-2 victory. The Lions were able to get on the board first after being able to manufacture a couple of runs early. After a strong first inning by their starting pitcher AJ Greene, Jonathan Raudales was able to hit a one out single to right field for the game’s first base runner. The game got off to a blazing start as the Yankees bats caught fire early. Levi Gross got the start for Mayhem, and while he was throwing strikes early, the Yankees hit him hard. The big game featured Merrick Mayhem-Galligan and New York Longhorns-Dorman. The Mayhem, led by Lukas Dunn and CJ Amato, took down the Longhorns in a 10-0 victory. For a game that lasted just four innings due to time constraints, there was no shortage of offense. The teams combined to steal 31 bases, 18 for the Junior Ducks and 13 for the Mayhem. Although it was the first game of the tournament for the Bandits, the Titans came into this game with huge momentum, as they had just beaten the Long Island Junior Ducks 15-0 in their first game of the tournament earlier in the morning. The Titans would use this momentum to jump on the Bandits early.
