Toto Leads Greendogs Past Bulls

by Ethan Marshall The Farmingdale Greendogs overpowered the Smithtown Bulls 9-4 at Pops Field. Collin McNamara allowed two runs in two innings and Brendan Russo threw four innings of two-run ball. The biggest star of the game was Nick Toto, who hit two inside-the-park home runs and recorded five RBI for the Greendogs. According to Toto, he wouldn’t have been able to hit his second home run without a tip from his uncle in the middle of an at-bat. “My uncle said I was stepping out on a foul ball before [the second homer],” Toto said. “I feel really good about [the homers].” According to Greendogs head coach Bill Cloghessy, his team played a smart game. “We really stayed in there, put the ball in play and made things happen,” Coach Cloghessy said. Success on Base Paths Lead 9U Manhasset Indians to Win Over Chiefs

by James Ryder The South Shore Chiefs played their second straight game of the day Saturday morning on Field three at Eisenhower Park. Facing the Manhasset Indians, they made a late push to try to walk off in the top of the sixth inning. Despite the rally, South Shore came up just short in a 7-6 game. Both teams took turns gaining the lead and it all started in the top of the first inning. The Chiefs scored first on an RBI double by Tyler Baktis. He brought leadoff hitter Aiden VanNostrand to make it 1-0. In the bottom half of the inning, the Indians got their first lead and scored two runs. With Luka Santucci on second base and two outs, Andrew LaMarca pulled a line drive down the first base line for an RBI triple. However, it was 11u Batting 1.000 that outlasted Team Steel Gold and ended up winning having scored double their opponents runs. Batting 1.000 scored runs every time they came to the plate, resulting in 16 runs on the day. The result was the Farmingdale Greendogs defeating the Batting 1.000 Seminoles out of Freeport, 8-7. It was the second straight game of the day for Batting 1.000, but they came out looking fresh to start. Their offense scored a quick two runs in the top of the first starting with a walk from Danny Defonte, who also stole second and third base. Kondyra recorded just two strikeouts in the game and allowed two runs in the final inning before loading the bases, but stranded the tying run at second to finish the complete game. “I just threw strikes and my outfield and infield made good plays,” Kondyra said of his performance. He didn’t allow a walk until the second-to-last batter of the game. Greendogs Rally Late to Defeat LIB Roar

Through a furious rally in the final inning, the Farmingdale Greendogs successfully pulled off a comeback victory against LIB Roar. The Greendogs struck first. After a leadoff single and stolen base by Anthony Mancuso, Mateo Morales ripped a line drive double to left-center field. However, while trying to stretch it into a triple, Morales was thrown out at third. The Greendogs worked the bases loaded, but were unable to add on to their lead.
