by Ethan Berch ANTONIO LARI DELIVERS!! WALK OFF HOMERUN WINS IT AND SENDS TEAM FRANSICO INTO THE PLAYOFFS! pic.twitter.com/sahJx5El3y — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 31, 2020 Halloween Day and early morning baseball sounds as sweet as candy! It was as cold as it gets for an October morning here at Allen Park in Farmingdale. The 9u Farmingdale Greendogs took on New York Longhorns-Black in an East Coast matchup. The winner of this game would presumably clinch a spot in next week’s playoffs! Antonio Lari got the nod for the Longhorns. Lari was a big kid who threw the ball with high velocity. Little-to-no kids were able to catch up with his fastball. The Greendogs struck first in the top of the first inning after three straight walks and hit batsmen. However, Lari struck o...

Axcess Reporter Ethan Berch (@eberch5) speaks with the Ducks head coach following their 2-0 win! pic.twitter.com/6M4ghK7Mqt — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 23, 2020 There is something about baseball under the lights and Friday night that goes together just way too good. Here at Cantiague Park, the 10u LI Jr. Ducks took on the 10u Farmingdale Greendogs. This may have been a low-scoring one, but just as exciting as it gets. Colin Johnson got the start for the Ducks. The right handed pitcher came out with a fastball-curveball combination which was nasty. He forced a lot of groundouts and ended the first inning with a strikeout leaving a runner at third base. Aiden Simonetti was the starter for the Greendogs. Aiden threw hard and kept plenty of the Ducks hitters off balance. The...

Ozone Academy Defeats South Shore Chiefs

by James Ryder  The bats were clearly awake for Sunday mornings 9 AM game between 11u Ozone Academy and the South Shore Chiefs. Both teams combined for 19 runs on 19 hits. Despite this, the team kept up with South Shores early scoring and came back from down 7-1 to win 12-8in five innings. Ozone Academy got a 1-0 lead to start the game in the top of the first inning. LI Titans Noe Capture 10U Stars & Stripes Tournament

There are not many 10U teams that can compete with them, but the Farmingdale Greendogs are one of them. “We always play this Farmingdale team and we know they can really play,” said LI Titans Head Coach Kenny Noe. “We know they have about 3 or 4 pitchers that can really throw so for us it’s just about grinding out at bats, getting pitch counts up and going deep into counts and it showed. We got their pitcher up over 100 pitches in four innings–he went to 107 pitches and it was after throwing 75 on Thursday so it really showed,” he added. That pitcher was Chris Parisi, one of Farmingdale’s power arms but pitching on 2-days rest after throwing a complete game, he certainly battled to find his command. The Titans took advantage of this by drawing five...

Knights Tie Game Late, But LIB Surges to Win in Extras

by James Ryder What started off as a fast paced, offensive slug fest at Kings Park Memorial Park turned out to be a late game thriller. The Kings Park Knights, down to their final out and final strike, managed to tie up the game in the bottom of the sixth and force extra innings. However, Long Island Baseball quickly responded with a huge top of the seventh to win 10-5.  Dylan Fitzpatrick and Aiden Collins each got the start on the mound and both threw four scoreless innings. Kings Park almost scored first in the bottom of the fourth, when Nick Paliotta hit a leadoff single and stole second base. Dom Romano hit the ball to right field but was thrown out at first base. Paliotta tried going home, but was also thrown out for an inning ending double play.  LIB instead struck first in the top o...

Andrew Noe Does It All in 10-0 Victory

You would never know it by watching him, but Andrew Noe had a blast in today’s 10-0 victory for the LI Titans in the Semifinals of the 10U Stars & Stripes Tournament. The stoic young man pitched four shutout innings allowing just one hit and one hit. He also hit a three-run home run, legged out an RBI single and scored three runs while acting like he’s been there before–rarely seen from a 10-year-old athlete. The game was delayed by nearly an hour but the Titans still were able to finish the victory in 1 hour and finish in less than if the game had started at the scheduled 11:15am time. The offense wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. They got an RBI single by Shane Meehan to score Andrew Noe to give them a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Luke Coates ...

That third inning was the reason the 12U 495 Wolfpack was able to complete a a four-inning rule-rule victory over the East End Aviators in a 4th of July Stars & Stripes Tournament game this afternoon. They got out to a quick start in this game, using three walks to load the bases for fifth-place hitter Andrew Chelius. He roped a two-run rule double to score Vaughn Steinert and Isaiah Gibbs to make it 2-0. They sent Kyle Lucas to the hill and he was in no rush to let that lead slip away. The other four outs were ground outs to second, a pop out to third and a ground out to third. He struck out the side in first, second and third innings. The Greendogs didn’t need to mount much offense, but they did the necessary damage in the first inning. After ...
