by James Ryder The bats were clearly awake for Sunday mornings 9 AM game between 11u Ozone Academy and the South Shore Chiefs. Both teams combined for 19 runs on 19 hits. However, the defense for Ozone Academy still seemed to be half asleep for the first few innings. Despite this, the team kept up with South Shores early scoring and came back from down 7-1 to win 12-8in five innings. Ozone Academy got a 1-0 lead to start the game in the top of the first inning. Ethan Sorensen led off and hit a single to center field. Phil Albergo started his impressive day at the plate by bringing home Sorensen on an RBI infield single to shortstop. As mentioned, Ozone’s woes started on the other side of the ball from the get-go. South Shore quickly loaded the bases on a single from Christian George, a ...
There are not many 10U teams that can compete with them, but the Farmingdale Greendogs are one of them. “We always play this Farmingdale team and we know they can really play,” said LI Titans Head Coach Kenny Noe. “We know they have about 3 or 4 pitchers that can really throw so for us it’s just about grinding out at bats, getting pitch counts up and going deep into counts and it showed. We got their pitcher up over 100 pitches in four innings–he went to 107 pitches and it was after throwing 75 on Thursday so it really showed,” he added. That pitcher was Chris Parisi, one of Farmingdale’s power arms but pitching on 2-days rest after throwing a complete game, he certainly battled to find his command. The Titans took advantage of this by drawing five...
The Farmingdale Greendogs held off a late rally by Long Island Baseball in which they sent the tying run to the plate after trailing by six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to capture a 10-7 victory. With the victory, they advance to face the Long Island Titans in the 10U Stars & Stripes Tournament. LIB got off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an error and a couple wild pitches to score Lorenzo D’Ambrosio. The lead did not last long as the Greendogs sent eight batters to the plate in the bottom of the first and crossed the plate three times highlighted by an RBI single by Thursday’s hero Chris Parisi, an error and an RBI single by William Herbert. After a scoreless top of the second, they added three more runs on an RBI single by Justin Ortiz and a two-run double ...
by James Ryder What started off as a fast paced, offensive slug fest at Kings Park Memorial Park turned out to be a late game thriller. The Kings Park Knights, down to their final out and final strike, managed to tie up the game in the bottom of the sixth and force extra innings. However, Long Island Baseball quickly responded with a huge top of the seventh to win 10-5. Dylan Fitzpatrick and Aiden Collins each got the start on the mound and both threw four scoreless innings. Kings Park almost scored first in the bottom of the fourth, when Nick Paliotta hit a leadoff single and stole second base. Dom Romano hit the ball to right field but was thrown out at first base. Paliotta tried going home, but was also thrown out for an inning ending double play. LIB instead struck first in the top o...
You would never know it by watching him, but Andrew Noe had a blast in today’s 10-0 victory for the LI Titans in the Semifinals of the 10U Stars & Stripes Tournament. The stoic young man pitched four shutout innings allowing just one hit and one hit. He also hit a three-run home run, legged out an RBI single and scored three runs while acting like he’s been there before–rarely seen from a 10-year-old athlete. The game was delayed by nearly an hour but the Titans still were able to finish the victory in 1 hour and finish in less than if the game had started at the scheduled 11:15am time. The offense wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. They got an RBI single by Shane Meehan to score Andrew Noe to give them a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Luke Coates ...
Vaughn Steinert clears the bases with a triple to right pic.twitter.com/Hg1BiFVNMk — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 5, 2019 They sent 16 batters to the plate and crossed the plate 11 times against two pitchers. That third inning was the reason the 12U 495 Wolfpack was able to complete a a four-inning rule-rule victory over the East End Aviators in a 4th of July Stars & Stripes Tournament game this afternoon. They got out to a quick start in this game, using three walks to load the bases for fifth-place hitter Andrew Chelius. He roped a two-run rule double to score Vaughn Steinert and Isaiah Gibbs to make it 2-0. They sent Kyle Lucas to the hill and he was in no rush to let that lead slip away. The power pitcher fired a harmless 1-2-3 first inning with two ground outs to seco...

Immediately, the Greendogs got going offensively, pushing five runs across in the first inning. After Justin Ortiz led off the game with a single, Ive Mills drove him in with a triple. The following two batters were retired by Lizards starting pitcher, Anthony Morelli. However, he was unable to fully escape trouble. Dylan Mingo hit a rocket to the shortstop, who couldn’t come up with it cleanly. Brendan Lofaro followed that up with a double, which was then followed by a triple off the bat of Chris Dinota, to give the Greendogs a 4-0 lead. A batter later, Dinota scored, as Daniel Hilton beat out a ground ball to the shortstop. Morelli finally escaped the inning, inducing a ground ball for the third out. Chris Parisi started the game on the mound for the Greendogs, and he set down the Lizar...
by Ethan Marshall The Farmingdale Greendogs overpowered the Smithtown Bulls 9-4 at Pops Field. Collin McNamara allowed two runs in two innings and Brendan Russo threw four innings of two-run ball. The biggest star of the game was Nick Toto, who hit two inside-the-park home runs and recorded five RBI for the Greendogs. According to Toto, he wouldn’t have been able to hit his second home run without a tip from his uncle in the middle of an at-bat. “My uncle said I was stepping out on a foul ball before [the second homer],” Toto said. “I feel really good about [the homers].” According to Greendogs head coach Bill Cloghessy, his team played a smart game. “We really stayed in there, put the ball in play and made things happen,” Coach Cloghessy said. He also praised Toto’s hitting ability ...
by James Ryder Weekend double headers at the ballpark can sometimes make for long days as is. The first game at Cantiague Park Field A between the Batting 1.000 Seminoles and the Manhasset Indians definitely proved to be the making of a very long day for the latter team, as the former went insane on offense in a 21-2 landslide win. Batting 1.000 big day got started in the top of the first when leadoff hitter Jake Barletta hustled to first on a ground ball to shortstop. The throw to first went wide, giving the Seminoles their first of several base runners. Anthony Kenner drew a walk before he and Barletta stole second and third. The catcher threw past third base and the runners advanced again as the ball rolled into left field. Kenner then came home on a ground ball to SS by Joe Angeletta...
by James Ryder After a 3-3 day at the plate, here is John-Albert Franco on the batting advice he gets from his coaches: pic.twitter.com/fkD5ngy4Ut — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 28, 2019 11u Team Beast Red faced off against the Long Island Baseball Roar Friday evening at Wantagh Park. Despite the beautiful weather, the members of Team Beast Red were the only ones who undoubtedly enjoyed their night as they cruised to a 10-1 win. Long Island Baseball had a rough evening as they threw four different pitchers and stranded several runners on base in what ended up being only a 5-inning game due to mercy rule. Team Beast, meanwhile, scored at least one run in every inning except for the second. They also got four innings from starting pitcher Andrew Mank and a fifth inning save fr...
by James Ryder The South Shore Chiefs played their second straight game of the day Saturday morning on Field three at Eisenhower Park. Facing the Manhasset Indians, they made a late push to try to walk off in the top of the sixth inning. Despite the rally, South Shore came up just short in a 7-6 game. Both teams took turns gaining the lead and it all started in the top of the first inning. The Chiefs scored first on an RBI double by Tyler Baktis. He brought leadoff hitter Aiden VanNostrand to make it 1-0. In the bottom half of the inning, the Indians got their first lead and scored two runs. With Luka Santucci on second base and two outs, Andrew LaMarca pulled a line drive down the first base line for an RBI triple. Upon reaching third, a late throw went past the bag and LaMarca went home ...
