by James Ryder What started off as a fast paced, offensive slug fest at Kings Park Memorial Park turned out to be a late game thriller. The Kings Park Knights, down to their final out and final strike, managed to tie up the game in the bottom of the sixth and force extra innings. However, Long Island Baseball quickly responded with a huge top of the seventh to win 10-5. Dylan Fitzpatrick and Aiden Collins each got the start on the mound and both threw four scoreless innings. Kings Park almost scored first in the bottom of the fourth, when Nick Paliotta hit a leadoff single and stole second base. Dom Romano hit the ball to right field but was thrown out at first base. Paliotta tried going home, but was also thrown out for an inning ending double play. LIB instead struck first in the top o...

The hard-throwing 10-year-old was lights out all afternoon, as he struck out 14, allowing just two singles in a complete game (six inning shutout). The other four outs were ground outs to second, a pop out to third and a ground out to third. He struck out the side in first, second and third innings. The Greendogs didn’t need to mount much offense, but they did the necessary damage in the first inning. After ...

After an error opened the inning, they used a single and a two-run double by Tom Okpych to open up a 4-1 lead followed by an RBI infield single by CJ Everett to short stop to make it 5-1. Not content with their lead, they also got a two-run triple from lead off hitter Andrew Noe to break it open at 7-1. “Our team has been scoring a lot of runs in key situations,” said Head Coach Kenny Noe. “Today it was a 2-1 game and we put up a 5-spot to break it open. We’ve been coming up with big hits all through our order—we bat everybody—and everybody has really responded. We’ve been doing well,” he a...
by Ethan Marshall Todd Segarra on his team’s victory this afternoon @EcybTournaments pic.twitter.com/FGcShzzFCM — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 7, 2019 The Oil City Bandits defeated the RVC Royals 10-4 in the first game of a Sunday afternoon doubleheader. Aggressive baserunning and a strong outing by starting pitcher Todd Segarra played a big role in the Bandits’ victory. Four walks, four stolen bases and four wild pitches allowed the Bandits to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the first without recording a hit. Segarra credits head coach Tommy Beirne for encouraging them to be aggressive on the basepaths. “Coach [Beirne] always tries to get us to be aggressive, and it always works out for us,” Segarra said. “The more risks we take, the better we do.” Head Coach Tommy Beirn...

The Thunder got out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Ben Cohen to score Nitsch, who singled to right. Those were the words of winning pitcher Spyro Matarangas in regards to the amazing performance from cleanup hitter Danny Defonte. The young slugger smacked 2 HRs in Batting 1.000’s 11-2 victory over the Oil City Bandits, including a two-run shot in the first inning to open up the scoring. They never looked back after that, opening the game up with a six-spot in the second inning to put it out of reach, especially with Matarangas throwing strikes, working quickly and fielding his position very well on a handful of comebackers to the mound. “The improvem...
