They are coming off a 20-16 campaign, but had their season cut short by No. 5 Mount St. Mary’s in a shocking upset. The Old Westbury Panthers are on fire, having won their eleventh consecutive game today against United States Merchant Marines academy 6-1. They fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but responded with six unanswered runs over the next eight innings to improve to 22-8. Dean Sheridan drove in Matt Taurisani with an RBI double in the fifth inning to give the Panthers are 2-1 lead. Photo Credit: Vinny Messana Old Westbury padded their resume a little more with another easy win–this time an 11-3 rout of John Jay to improve to 19-8.Nick Schoen started and went six innings–he allowed one ER and struck out five batters for the win. The game was close in the fifth inning when Nick Yip hit his fifth home run of the season to open up a 3-1 lead. Christian Faust opened the game up with a two-run double in the seventh inning. Faust finished with three hits and two RBI. Michael Cardino had two hits and drove in two. Old Westbury Wins On Senior Night in 10 Innings

  Photo Credit: Vinny Messana Senior Night is supposed to be a nice, easy victory. Old Westbury‘s win Tuesday night over the City College of New York was anything but. It took 10 innings, and it included eight errors and 17 hits but the Panthers won 5-4 on an RBI single by the red-hot Tommy Zeigen. Old Westbury starter Tyler Kapela was terrific–he allowed one ER in six innings, struck out three and walked one. He did not factor in the decision. Nick Dorcean came on in relief in the seventh and struck out six in four shutout innings. Old Westbury Sweeps the Weekend

  Photo Credit: Vinny Messana The Old Westbury Panthers swept two teams this weekend on their way to improving to 17-8 overall and 8-4 in the Skyline Conference.On Friday, they swept Yeshiva University by a combined score of 33-6. While it is hardly an accomplishment to defeat them, it was what needed to be done. They benefited from 11 Macabees errors. In Game 1, Justin Mize recorded the win. He threw five innings, allowing two ER.  Tommy Zeigen led the offense with three hits, three runs score and two RBI. In Game 2, Nick Schoen set a career-high with 13 k’s in a complete game shutout.
