Andres Auffant is our @BsbLifestyle101 Player of the Game he allowed just two hits with nine strikeouts over five shutout innings and also had 3 hits at the plate including a 3-R home run for Center Moriches pic.twitter.com/6AhOdQU8rE — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 16, 2019 When you are supremely talented, sometimes it can be difficult to avoid complacency. Center Moriches, the reigning New York State Class B champs, has not succumbed to that. They cruised past Babylon, 20-0, behind Andres Auffant‘s incredible day. The Franklin Pierce-commit fired five shutout innings, allowing just two hits, both singles, while striking out nine batters. He also was a menace at the dish. He had three hits, including a three-run HR in the second and a two-run single in the third which o...
Today was a scout’s dream, as every one of the top pitchers on Long Island were in one spot, throwing to a catcher. During a season, seeing all of these arms would probably take a full season but thanks to the loaded roster of the HDMH Titans, this was all possible today. The Mets, Phillies, Yankees, Tigers and Phillies were in attendance, Here’s a breakdown of them in the order they threw: David Falco, RHP, Center Moriches (Maryland-commit) Maryland-commit David Falco (Center Moriches 2019). Will transition to starting rotation after being closer for State Championship winning team last year. Fastball touched 94 last season, sat 89-92 MPH pic.twitter.com/z3b5ttT7Zo — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) January 30, 2019 Falco is well-built at 6’4 220 lbs. It is likely he...
Center Moriches defeats Marlboro, 5-1, to advance to the Class B New York State semifinals pic.twitter.com/9h7Q3GRINq — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 2, 2018 Losing the New York State Class B Championship was not something Center Moriches was interested in. Trailing by four runs in the sixth inning against Binghamton Seton Catholic Central, the Red Devils were staring defeat in the face and the prospects of a long bus ride back to Long Island as runner-ups. A seemingly innocuous at bat by DH Brad Sakellarides, however, mounted an improbable seven-run rally which featured a go-ahead hit by 1B Robert Copozzi. The Red Devils handed the ball to reliever David Franchi, who promptly slammed the door and delivered the first State Championship in program history. They had previously co...
Regardless of where you’re from, who your parents are, what size you are and what your nationality is, if you’re good you will be found. People love to diminish baseball for being a sport that is tilted towards the upper-middle class that can afford to travel the nation. That is simply not the case. A good scout will locate the top players in their area. Look no further than Kyle McGowin, who hails from the smallest town in New York (Sag Harbor) or Franklin Parra who came from the Dominican Republic and made a name for himself in extremely quick fashion at a school not commonly associated with baseball prowess (Copiague). With the 2019 season right around the corner, I will attempt to name the tools associated with being an impact baseball player and name the players that posse...
Every year around this time we think we have a good idea who will get drafted in June. The reality is that there’s no way to predict the future; players performances are wildly unpredictable and that’s not even factoring things out of their control. For example, I thought a player like Angelo Navetta would have gotten drafted had he performed exceptionally well in 2018. All he did was slug .616 with 49 RBI, showing that his 2016 season was no fluke and he is every bit as talented offensively as he is defensively. Still, he wasn’t drafted. Don’t tell me his size is a deterrent, because there were position players under 6’0″ drafted across the nation. Then there’s Matt Hogan, who I thought just needed to prove he was healthy to be considered a pro pl...
Yes it may seem like the 2019 draft is a long time away, but the reality for MLB organizations is that the preparation began immediately following the 2018 draft. Area scouts have had workouts and will continue to monitor their high-follows very closely from now until June. Below is a list of the eight players I believe have a chance to get drafted next year, and how they have evolved since I first watched each of them. Jason Diaz, RHP, Kellenberg Jason Diaz set such a high standard for himself that it was always going to be difficult to continue to outperform expectations. Having a 94 MPH at 16-years-old can be a blessing and a curse. From my perspective, I was blown away with him as a sophomore. His natural stuff, his composure, the similarities to Marcus Stroman, etc, put himself in eli...
The classic Suffolk County Class B playoff matchup between Center Moriches and Mattituck proved to be an action-packed two-day battle. Center Moriches hosted the game, as they are the No. 1 seed, and took care of business, winning 7-4. On Tuesday, the Red Devils and Tuckers only played two and a half innings. After a scoreless first the rain began to fall heavily. David Franchi started the game for the Red Devils. Despite the rain, the right-hander allowed just one run in the top half of the third, where the rain was coming down hard enough for the umpires to call the game after the half inning concluded. CM scored two runs in the second after third baseman David Falco led off the inning with a double over the center fielder’s head. He eventually came around to score after designated hitte...
Maryland-commit David Falco launches a 3-R shot and Center Moriches opens up a 4-0 lead in the first pic.twitter.com/FnrsDZsWf0 Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 4, 2018 It looked more similar to the opening credits of a Alfred Hitchcock movie, but there was a baseball played in the thick fog and light drizzle at Moriches Complex this morning, which did not deter Stony Brook-commit Liam Pulsipher at all. “It was pretty difficult,” said the senior southpaw following the big victory over Hampton Bays. “It was slippery but you know you have to play with what you’re given and over come those types of things,” he added. He walked two batters in the first inning–due to the slippery turf on the artificial mound–but he settled in and fired ...
David Falco really generated a buzz this summer when he pitched in East Cobb, GA and lit up the radar gun with 92 MPH fastballs. The Center Moriches sophomore was receiving scholarship offers from several Div-I programs since then. He announced his verbal commitment to the University of Maryland last night. He spoke with Vinny Messana, and here’s what he had to say.. Talk a little about the college recruiting process and how Maryland came to be? Well as soon as I hit 92 mph at a Perfect Game tournament, I received a lot of interest from top-tier Div-I schools. I’ve been to a lot of camps for schools all over the east coast. Most of them I had gotten a little interest from, but when I went to Maryland it was different; the whole coaching staff was involved in recruiting me, on ...
