Conference opponents Farmingdale State and SUNY Old Westbury split two vastly different–but dramatic–games in a doubleheader today. Farmingdale out-slugged Westbury 10-9 in game one, while Westbury won game two, a pitching duel by the score of 2-1 on a walk-off walk. Game one began as a pitching duel, Matthew Constantine and Trey Pizzutello shut down both side for three innings before the bats broke through. An error in the fourth allowed Farmingdale’s first two runs to come across, but a single by Christopher Reilly and a two-run homer from Domenic Palumbo got the Rams halfway to their final score. Westbury came right back scoring four in the fourth on singles from Paul Rapoli, Carlos Balmaceda and Jesse Matos. They even took a two-run lead off Rapoli’s third singl...
Photo Credit: Farmingdale State Athletics Tom Rydzewski wasted no time in setting a record four years in the making. With his first inning single on Tuesday, he now has 162 career hits, besting the previous mark by Kevin Curtis (2008-2011). Farmingdale has had some tremendous hitters in their program history. It is quite an achievement to hold this mark. Rydzewski is a 22-year-old graduate of Carey HS where he was a three-time All League player and has been All-Conference twice at Farmingdale. The Farmingdale Rams shut out Baruch 6-0 today in a tuneup game for the Skyline Conference playoffs this weekend. Kevin Martinez, Kevin Ernest, Christopher Reilly, David Otero Jr., and Alex Pangouelias combined on the two-hit shutout. Ernest recorded the victory with two shutout innings, allowing on...
Photo Credit: Farmingdale State Athletics After winning three of four this weekend, Farmingdale State is back in the mix in the Skyline Conference playoff picture. We covered the DH on Saturday in which they split with Mount St. Vincent’s. After losing the first game 19-8, they responded by winning the next three games this weekend. On Sunday afternoon, they shutout Purchase 10-0 in the first game. They smacked 20 hits and held them to two. The game was over in the first inning after the Rams took a 6-0 lead. Incredibly, Purchase’s starting pitcher threw a complete game while allowing 20 hits. Domenic Palumbo and Matteo Gaudio were particularly cruel to him, both compiling four hits. Anthony Alvino, Mike Marino and Kenneth Johntry both had two hits. Matt Seelinger recorded t...

Photo Credit: William Patterson Athletics The losing streak hits five for the Farmingdale Rams, as they lost to William Patterson today by the score of 6-3. They took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third on an error which scored Nick Osburn. Anthony Alvino‘s RBI double increased the lead to 2-0 in the following frame. Unfortunately, that was the last inning they held a lead. In the bottom of the fourth the Pioneers put up two runs on starter Dalton McCarthy (0-3). They added single runs in the fifth and sixth inning to build their lead. The Rams fought back in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Osburn, but McCarthy flew out to end the threat. Alvino led off the ninth with a single off closer Mitch D’Amato but the Rams were unable to spark a rally as D’Amato ret...
