Disappointing Day for Three Division-II Teams

After upsetting the No. 1 seed Pace, Adelphi was defeated on Thursday and faced elimination on Friday. They staved off elimination with a 7-2 victory against New Haven in which John Thompson threw 6.1 strong innings to record his second win of the season. John Fogarty had three hits and Rob Vani drove in two runs. They advanced to face Stonehill for the second time in as many days and it did not go well. Dowling-LIU Post Game Postponed

Today’s Dowling verse LIU Post game has been postponed due to the threat of rain. The game will be made up on Monday for the fourth game of the series.Tomorrow Dowling will host the DH. It will begin at noon.The series will be crucial for each team, considering the ramifications in the ECC standings. Dowling is currently first in the conference with a 6-2 record. They are percentage points ahead of St. Thomas Aquinas, who currently sit at 9-3. As mentioned earlier, great pitching duels are a staple of the LIU Post-Molloy rivalry. In the first game of the double header it was Alex Brosnan who was dominant. In the second game, LIU Post’s Connor McCarthy threw a seven inning shutout in a 3-0 victory.McCarthy, a graduate student from Clarke HS, allowed only two singles while striking out four and allowing only walk against Molloy.Tom Asbaty reached on a throwing error by the 3b to score Kenny Daley and get the Pioneers on the board in the second inning.
