Saturday’s College Baseball Recap (3/23) Presented by The Schwarz Institute

With conference play beginning on Long Island, we were treated to an outstanding day of baseball. For the first time all year, Long Island teams came out on top in every single game played on Saturday afternoon. The tough competition everyone has played since February is seeming to pay off. Division-I: Another day, another win for the Seawolves. On Saturday afternoon, Stony Brook saved their best work for the late innings as they defeated Sacred Heart, 4-1. Friday (3/22) College Baseball Recap Presented by The Schwarz Institute

The weather did not do us any favors on Friday. Despite an air temperature of about 45 degrees, the games were played in a sustained 20-25 MPH winds which made the real temperature feel like 35 degrees. Some games were cancelled. Regardless, there was still plenty of excitement in the games that did occur. We covered Suffolk-Nassau, which you can read about here. Here’s the rest of the action: Division-I: Stony Brook outlasted Sacred Heart, 12-9, in heavy sustained winds that certainly made it difficult on the pitchers. The victory extended their win streak to six, as they now have a record of 9-7. Saturday (3/16) College Baseball Recap Presented by The Schwarz Institute

One month into the college baseball season and things have kicked into high gear. Yesterday was another thrilling day, we covered LIU Post‘s DH sweep over Assumption, which you can read about here. There was plenty of other action including a big conference DH sweep by a local D1 and a huge offensive output by a local D2. Here’s how it went down: Division-I: Stony Brook left Saturday sweeping UMBC in a double header, extending their winning streak to three. In game one, they won 4-3 in a closely contested battle. In a back and forth game, things were all knotted up heading into the 7th inning. Once again Michael Wilson proved why he is the catalyst of this lineup, as he launched a go ahead home run to center.
