Jason Berthel’s Grand Slam Is the Difference In Seaford’s Win over CSH

by Max Edelman It’s a GRAND SLAM for Jason Berthel! He puts the Vikings back on top. Seaford leads 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth. pic.twitter.com/GZkbdXaa3T — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 11, 2024 The Seaford Vikings used a Jason Berthel grand slam to fuel them to a 5-3 victory over the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks. Down 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Berthel sent a towering fly ball over the left-center field fence to give his Vikings a 5-3 lead, a lead they would never relinquish en route to a home victory.  The Vikings were the team to strike first, as after Dylan Alt doubled to lead off the game, and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Luke Walsh. Walsh had a solid day at the plate, going two for three with a stolen base to go along with the sacrifice fl...

Led by One of the Top Power Pitchers on the Island, Cold Spring Harbor Hungry for a Title

By Michael Malaszczyk Coach Richard Greeney of Cold Spring Harbor is looking to lead his team to a championship in 2022. Cold Spring Harbor made it to the playoffs in 2021, an impressive feat considering the amount of field time the players lost to the coronavirus pandemic. In an interview with Axcess Baseball, Coach Greeney was happy to share his thoughts on 2021. “2021 ended with a loss in the County Finals,” said Greeney. “We had a lead with 9 outs to go in the game and coughed it up. I was pleased to see the guys push themselves during the COVID played baseball season, but wish we could’ve held onto the game for the guys.” Despite that last game, Cold Spring Harbor should be proud that they made it as far as they did under the circumstances. Come-from-behind wins and losses happe...

What’s Going On With Nassau Conference V

This year was bizarre from the jump – so I understand that a lot of decisions had to be made for the first time. That much is true. That still doesn’t mean that common sense doesn’t apply. So when Nassau and Suffolk each switched up their conference formats for this season, there was going to be a decision that needed to be made. At the most basic level, Nassau had five conference and Suffolk had six. That would be fine if there was no Long Island Championship involved, but once they decided that June 20th would be the Long Island Championship day – they needed a way to even it out. According to my source, the conventional wisdom would suggest that Nassau Conference V would play a playoff like the other leagues – top 2 get byes, 3 v 6 and 4 v 5 in the first ro...

Cold Spring Harbor Returns Three Players From Championship Team

It was a phenomenal season in 2019 for Cold Spring Harbor as they captured the Nassau County Class B Championship over No. 1 seed East Rockaway. They ultimately had their season end in the Long Island Championship against Center Moriches – who wound up capturing the New York State title. That year’s team featured some outstanding performances from their seniors – RHP Theo Farynick, C Kyle Jaspers and RHP Jon Cosmai. Center Moriches Captures Back-to-Back Class B Long Island Championships

Robert Copozzi wen 3-for-3 with a long HR to deliver Center Moriches their second straight Class B Long Island Championship @BsbLifestyle101 pic.twitter.com/7MGHvj1LZ5 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 6, 2019 Center Moriches has made no secret that their goal was to repeat as New York State Class B Champions this season. They moved one step closer to that goal with a 3-0 victory over Cold Spring Harbor to capture their second straight Long Island Championship. The Red Devils made quick work of their Suffolk County opponents on the way to a 22-0 record entering the day. They proved that the best of Nassau County was no match for them either. The Seahawks hung tough, but ultimately they couldn’t muster much offense against Franklin Pierce-commit Andres Auffant. The hard-thro...
