Down 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Berthel sent a towering fly ball over the left-center field fence to give his Vikings a 5-3 lead, a lead they would never relinquish en route to a home victory. Cold Spring Harbor made it to the playoffs in 2021, an impressive feat considering the amount of field time the players lost to the coronavirus pandemic. In an interview with Axcess Baseball, Coach Greeney was happy to share his thoughts on 2021. “2021 ended with a loss in the County Finals,” said Greeney. “We had a lead with 9 outs to go in the game and coughed it up. What’s Going On With Nassau Conference V
This year was bizarre from the jump – so I understand that a lot of decisions had to be made for the first time. That much is true. That still doesn’t mean that common sense doesn’t apply. So when Nassau and Suffolk each switched up their conference formats for this season, there was going to be a decision that needed to be made. At the most basic level, Nassau had five conference and Suffolk had six. Cold Spring Harbor Returns Three Players From Championship Team
It was a phenomenal season in 2019 for Cold Spring Harbor as they captured the Nassau County Class B Championship over No. 1 seed East Rockaway. They ultimately had their season end in the Long Island Championship against Center Moriches – who wound up capturing the New York State title. That year’s team featured some outstanding performances from their seniors – RHP Theo Farynick, C Kyle Jaspers and RHP Jon Cosmai.
