Harborfields Enters 2022 Coming Off County Championship Appearance
By Thomas Cregan Harborfields head coach Casey Sturm is looking to pickup right where they left off in 2021 and make another run at the County Championship in 2022. They embarked on a fantastic run in 2021 posting a 13-8 regular season record propelling them into the postseason. They would ride the wave until a close game in which they were ultimately defeated by East Islip in the County Championship. Even After Graduating Impactful Class in 2020, Harborfields Still Appears Prime for Playoff Run
Entering 2020, Harborfields was in as good of shape as any team in Class A. They were loaded with top-tier talent at key positions including a loaded pitching staff. After three straight seasons of first-round postseason exits, they appeared like a safe bet to change that. The cancellation of the high school season did not do them any favors, especially graduating catcher Anthony Madigan, RHP Jack Greco and LHP Corey Phelan. Harborfields Poised For a Playoff Run
After three straight seasons of first-round postseason losses, Harborfields appears ready to break through. Coach Casey Sturm says they “are ready to change that.” He will go to battle in League 5 with a roster filled with high-end players. He stated that outside of 2018, “this is probably the most talented team we’ve had, but at the end of the day you’ve gotta play.” The strength of the team is certainly the starting rotation. They return four capable pitchers, led by New York Tech-commit Jack Greco.
