Old Westbury Sweeps the Weekend

  Photo Credit: Vinny Messana The Old Westbury Panthers swept two teams this weekend on their way to improving to 17-8 overall and 8-4 in the Skyline Conference.On Friday, they swept Yeshiva University by a combined score of 33-6. While it is hardly an accomplishment to defeat them, it was what needed to be done. They benefited from 11 Macabees errors. In Game 1, Justin Mize recorded the win. He threw five innings, allowing two ER.  Tommy Zeigen led the offense with three hits, three runs score and two RBI. In Game 2, Nick Schoen set a career-high with 13 k’s in a complete game shutout. Caleb Olsen Dominant in Old Westbury’s Fourth Straight Win

They won their third straight game there–and fourth overall–with an 11-1 victory over John Jay.They got on the board early and often. Christian Faust drove a two-run double to RF to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. Before the inning was over, they added four more runs–highlighted by Nick Yip‘s third home run of the young season. He tied Anthony Orsano for the program record with 11 career home runs. That was all Caleb Olsen would need. He threw five dominant innings, allowing only one run on one hit, walking two while striking out three. He needed only 64 pitches.
