It’s not often that an impact player is announcing his college commitment after his senior year concludes. It took an extremely unusual circumstance, but North Babylon 1B/RHP Brian Primm announced that he will be attending Pace University in the fall. Primm was originally committed to LIU Post, but after the merger with LIU Brooklyn, he decided–like several other 2019 grads including E.J. Exposito, Peter Schimmel, Michael Storms, Stevie Proko–to de-commit. Exposito will be attending NYIT, Schimmel will be going to St. Thomas Aquinas and Storms/Proko will go to Adelphi. Primm had the best season out of all of them and is a finalist for the coveted Carl Yastrzemski Award next week. He went 5-0 with a 0.73 ERA on the mound over 38.1 IP. He also batted .431 with a 1.156 OPS a...
Final: Lindenhurst 12, North Babylon 4 WP: Jack Kelly Sal Leto drove in 4 runs in the victory. He is the @BsbLifestyle101 Player of the Game. Lindenhurst will face No. 4 West Islip on Friday pic.twitter.com/4uUx60AL2Q — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 22, 2019 Lindenhurst was 2-8 and an after thought in League II just a few weeks ago and today they knocked off No. 5 North Babylon to stay alive and win their second straight elimination game in the Suffolk AA postseason with a 12-4 victory. Jack Kelly fired 6+ innings and was backed by a huge offensive day led by Sal Leto who drove in two runs in the fourth inning and another two in the sixth inning for Lindenhurst that opened up a big lead. “This team really has come together since the beginning of the season,” said Let...
With a solid Head Coach at the helm, you can bounce back quickly from down seasons. After winning eight games in 2017, the North Babylon Bulldogs improved to twelve last year including an incredible comeback victory in the postseason over Lindenhurst. This year, they’re hungry for more. They’re a very experienced team led by Head Coach Steve Corrado. They did graduate all-league catcher Zachary Kolano and their All-League outfielder and leadoff hitter Paul Tchinnis. What they return to the team however, makes them more than dangerous. Two players in ...
Following their 2017 ECC Championship, I was very confident that it was the beginning of a prosperous period for the LIU Post Pioneers. Not just because their current team included the reigning Axcess Baseball Player of the Year (Rob Andreoli), runner-up Rookie of the Year (Noah Lorenzo) and future ECC Pitcher of the Year (James Varela), but also because the residual effect that it would have on the current players on Long Island. Coming from someone who was in that exact situation, I can attest to the fact that there is absolutely a huge percentage of players on Long Island that are looking to a) stay close to home, b) play competitive baseball and c) get a scholarship to keep playing the game they love. For me, it meant attending Adelphi as they were in the midst of a 36-win season. For ...
What a chaotic week. What started off as a beautiful Monday with every game being played in 70 degree weather quickly turned into a slog that featured suspended games due to the weather on Tuesday, only one game being played on Wednesday, a productive Thursday, a cold/windy day on Friday and a complete washout today. Plenty of action occurred when the games were actually able to be played and here’s my biggest takeaways so far: The biggest surprise so far has been No. 17 Bay Shore coming out of nowhere to shock both No. 1 Smithtown East and No. 9 Connetquot. Both of these teams feature a myriad of Division-I and II players that have excelled against elite competition for years. Smithtown East threw their Hofstra-commit at them and the Marauders came away with a 7-4 victory on Monday....
North Babylon Head Coach Steve Corrado on the Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo Fundraiser Game against West Babylon pic.twitter.com/PTgS1UNKhU Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 6, 2018 The North Babylon Bulldogs notched a 6-4 rivalry win over the Eagles of West Babylon on Saturday night in the Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo Memorial Game. Sgt. Tuozzolo was an NYPD officer who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 4, 2016 and is survived by his wife Lisa, a North Babylon alumnus, and their two sons the youngest of which threw out the first pitch. Each team came together to host a friendly rivalry game at the West Babylon Youth Center in Tuozzolos, and used the scrimmage opportunity to call upon some reserves to contribute. Bobby Adamis got the start for West Babylon, but was pulled after ...
