Lou Doria, St. Joseph’s Power Past Mount St. Mary

Led by the scorching-hot bat of junior Lou Doria, the St. Joseph’s Golden Eagles took the Skyline Conference tournament game by storm as they posted a commanding 18-4 victory against Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday. Everything was going right for the Golden Eagles as they put up 22 hits offensively and their pitching was efficient. They will move on to play Maritime at 11 am on Sunday morning. The Golden Eagles took control of this one early as they put 11 runs in the first two innings batting through the lineup twice. St. Joseph’s Shuts Out Maritime in Crucial Skyline Double Header

The St. Joseph’s Golden Eagles had everything going right for them on Sunday as they took two 7-0 wins over Maritime. The pitching was stellar and the top of the order was electric.These two conference wins were huge for the Golden Eagles as they move to 13-7 on the season with a 7-1 conference record. These two teams will presumably be battling for the Skyline Conference up to the end of the season. You couldn’t have asked the top of the Golden Eagles’ order to be more productive in game one. Anthony Bonilla, Matt Burnett, Paul Britt, and Lou Doria combined for 11 hits, five RBI and six runs scored. Britt and Doria had monster days recording a combined seven hits between the two of them. It was not too long ago that fouls balls landed on Sunrise Highway and overthrows by infielders ended up in the middle of campus at St. Joseph’s. Now coming off winning the Skyline Conference championship, with a six-year old turf facility and getting an influx of talent via transfers and incoming freshman, St. Joseph’s might be becoming one of the top choices for top players on Long Island. “Depth is everything,” said Rick Garrett, who will enter the 2017 title defense with a 42 man roster. “We got kids coming from all over because they hear about it.
