Recap of Blue Chip Prospect’s Pitcher & Catcher Showcase

This past Sunday was the annual Pitcher & Catcher Showcase at Prospect Sports in Farmingdale. There was over 10 colleges in attendance to watch some of the top uncommitted pitchers on Long Island. Here’s a few that caught my eye: Nolan Comerford (Bellport 2025) Uncommitted RHP Nolan Comerford (Bellport 2025) with the best FB today at 84 MPH. Also mixed in a slider and split change up @BCprospects pic.twitter.com/5XfvjxzunI — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 12, 2023 In my opinion, he had the best arm in attendance. His FB sat in the low 80s and topped at 84. Additionally, he has already proven himself to be a successful pitcher at the varsity level and still has two more seasons to go. He has a really clean delivery and had the best command of any pitcher as well. Th...

Recap of Blue Chip Prospect’s Unsigned Senior Showcase

The annual unsigned senior showcase is always an event I look forward to covering because I was in their shoes once. I can relate to the athlete that enters their senior year in September with high hopes and began to feel a bit uneasy once all your friends begin to commit. The important thing to understand is that it’s not too late, and if you perform well then the right schools will take notice and you will find the right school. On Saturday, over 10 local colleges were on hand for the event in front of 40 players – a great ratio which allowed the players all to get in front of head coaches and recruiting coordinators. Upon arrival, the players did an active stretch led by Houston Astros catching instructor/movement coach Kyle Brennan – who is a graduate of Ward Melville...

Recap of Blue Chip Prospects’ College Coaches Camp

In terms of local events, Wednesday’s College Coaches Camp featured some of the best talent I’ve seen on one field. Additionally, the group of 50 players were able to play on St. John’s beautiful Jack Kaiser Field in front of roughly 20 college coaches from a mix of Division-I, Division-II and Division-III schools. The event began with the players taking batting practice on the field in front of the coaches before transitioning into defensive drills. The outfielders went first, followed by the catchers, then the infielders. Following the defensive showcase, a 13-inning game followed. Several players stood out as top performers and showed potential to play at the college level. Disclaimer: Some pitchers I was not able to watch. Luke Coats (St. Anthony’s 2026) Coats h...

Blue Chip Prospects to Host Underclassmen Showcase on June 21

The annual Blue Chip Prospects Underclass Showcase will take place on Wednesday, June 21 at Mitchel Field in Uniondale – home of Molloy University. The event has been extremely well attended by colleges over the past several years. Here are the schools that are committed and confirmed for the event: Luke Coats (St. Anthony’s 2026) up to 81 MPH with his 2-seamer. Recap of Blue Chip Prospect’s Pitcher/Catcher Showcase

Yesterday was the final showcase of 2022. It was the Blue Chip Prospect Pitchers/Catchers Showcase at Prospect Sports. There is always a great turnout of players and college coaches and an event I always look forward to. Below are the players that stood out the most to me during the event: Evan Cabral (Garden City 2025) Uncommitted RHP Evan Cabral (Garden City 2025) sitting 85-86, Splitter 78 pic.twitter.com/nCi6i34xxV — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 6, 2022 Evan is very advanced and especially when you consider his age. He has great command and he has clean mechanics and generates a tight spin on his breaking ball. Not many high school pichers can throw a splitter like him, either. High-end Division-I potential with a starters’ build. Nick Frusco (Miller Place 2025) ...

Recap of Blue Chip Prospects Unsigned Senior Showcase

With the 2022 season and calendar nearly at its conclusion, high school seniors are preparing for their final season before beginning their collegiate careers. For those unsigned seniors, however, the priorities are a bit different as they use this time to figure out which school they will be attending. It can be an anxious time. Speaking from experience, I entered my senior year as an uncommitted player and it wasn’t until November that I made my decision to attend to Farmingdale State College. There was roughly 40 players in attendance and several college coaches in attendance. After the players ran their 60-yard dash, the defense portion of the workout began. Catchers showed their arms throwing to second base on steal attempts and bunts. Infielders and outfielders showcased themse...

Recap of the Blue Chip Prospect Northeast Colleges Coaches Camp

The stars were out at Mitchel Field on Thursday for the annual Blue Chip Prospects Northeast Colleges Coaches Camp powered by Axcess Baseball. There were over a dozen college coaches on hand to watch 95 of the most promising uncommitted high school players from the region. Below are some of the players that were most impressive Everett Garber (Dwight Engelwood 2024) 6’3 RHP Everett Garber (Dwight Engelwood 2024) sitting 83-84 T85 with a sweeping slider at 75 pic.twitter.com/qxgGU3v7wC — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 28, 2022 This is the type of arms scouts dream on. For my die-hard Long Island baseball fans, he reminds me of Dominic Savino who dominated at Smithtown East before attending Albany and doing very well there. This is the type of kid that will have a big spike ...

Recapping Wednesday’s Underclassmen Showcase

It’s not often you get some of the top uncommitted players on Long Island all in one location. Additionally, it’s not often high school players get the opportunity to play in front of 19 Division-I & II coaches. That’s what occurred on Wednesday at Long Island Indoor Sports in Ronkonkoma for the Underclassmen Showcase. Below are just some of the schools that were in attendance: St. John’s Hofstra Stony Brook LIU Princeton Seton Hall Manhattan Albany Iona Farleigh Dickinson Molloy AIC Felician 50 players were in attendance which made for an outstanding ratio of coaches: players. Recapping Friday’s Blue Chip Prospects Showcase

The recruiting process was completely thrown off with the pandemic, and just now are the 2022s getting to be seen in person by coaches after a year-and-a-half relying on social media videos, emails, phone calls and Rapsodo numbers. It felt good to have a regular showcase and see the kids compete in front of Division-I head coaches, even though weather forced it inside. The day was split into two sessions which made it easier to focus on individuals, although it’s still a lot with two mounds going at once and two infielders getting grounders at once. I did my best to post videos of the kids that caught my attention and this will be a longer form version of that. Here’s some of the top performers from the day. Dylan Banner (Plainview JFK 2022) Dylan Banner (Plainview JFK 2022) pi...

Recapping the BCP Pitchers & Catchers Showcase

Against all odds, Long Island was able to have a semblance of a baseball season in 2020. We started off about three months late, but I’m glad that the young ballplayers did not need to lose a year of development or playing time. In addition to games, players also have been able to attend showcases to make up for the lost time and increase their exposure to colleges. Sunday’s Pitchers & Catchers Showcase hosted by Blue Chip Prospects was an outstanding event for young players to attend as the book is now closed on the season. There was over a dozen schools in attendance, and when factoring in the social media coverage, the players were seen by thousands of viewers. I’m really glad I was in attendance because this was not simply a group of unsigned seniors hoping to go ...

Recap of the Blue Chip Prospects Long Island Showcase

There was an army of talented baseball players on Thursday at Medford Athletic Complex for the Blue Chip Prospects’ Long Island Showcase. While the event always garners a big turnout, this was especially large considering all the prior events had been postponed due to the pandemic and players understand there is a finite amount of time to find their future college. I was there all day taking videos and notes on the top performers. Understand that it’s possible I missed a couple kids as there was multiple games going on simultaneously, but here is my best attempt at highlighting the very best. A.J. LI Titans McKay Capture 15U Northeast Elite

2022 Justin Arciniegas coming out of the gate throwing some gas pic.twitter.com/Mirj2zF9eR — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) September 22, 2019 After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the LI Titans put on an offensive clinic in the 15U Championship game of the Northeast Elite Tournament at Trunzo Field. The talented squad put up 15 runs in just four innings, including eight runs in the fourth inning to post the run-rule victory over the Blue Birds. Justin Arciniegas (St. John the Baptist 2022) got the start for the Titans. The flame-throwing southpaw struggled early a bit  as he allowed two runs on three hits, a walk and a balk to fall behind early in this contest. The Titans were undeterred as they bounced right back with two runs in the home half of the first inning on an ...
