Like every other team on the island, Bethpage lost some seniors from last year’s squad. Bethpage will be without pitcher Kyle Brindisi, who committed to LockHaven ...
Final: Division 13, Bethpage 4 WP: Mike Roy Division improved to 8-0 on the season. They erased an early 3-0 deficit. Chris Clune: 3 hits pic.twitter.com/I1RDLou9yd — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 11, 2023 When you enter the game with a run differential of 95 scored and 1 allowed, the expectations are high – even against a perennial playoff team like Bethpage. One day after a 10-0 shutout behind ace James Sill, Division faced an uphill battle – by their standards. Bethpage actually jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead against Division RHP Christian Varela – with the runs coming on a bases loaded walk in the first inning and a 2-run error on an errant pickoff throw in the second inning. At that point, it seemed we would be in for a close game, at the very least. But...

The Golden Eagles won the County Championships in 2021 and were prepared to repeat their accomplishment. However, their playoff hopes were cut short in the quarterfinals following a loss to Division. Entering his 19th season as the head coach, Rob Fisher reflected on how their postseason hopes ended and what lessons were learned from it. “We were a strong team. We pitched well, defended well, and always came up with big hits. We just ran out of gas after knocking out South Side.” Fisher continued, “We learned about the importance of chemistr...
By Michael Malaszczyk Here’s the final out of the Bethpage victory to capture their first county championship since 1983 pic.twitter.com/skTtGBufZx — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 19, 2021 Coach Rob Fisher of Bethpage wants to see last year’s success come again. Bethpage won the County Championship in 2021 – their first since 1983. They played with a vengeance and finished with an 18-3 overall record. Coach Fisher was happy to share his thoughts on the 2021 season in an interview with Axcess Baseball. “I was extremely happy with how it ended,” he said. “Kids gave everything they had last year. I was so proud of them and so happy for them.” When it comes to repeating last year’s success, Coach Fisher feels two things will be key: firstly, his returning players, and s...
It doesn’t get much better than 10 elimination games across Long Island to crown County Champions. Scratch that, it doesn’t get ANY better than that. The games ranged from Sag Harbor to South Side, and the great majority of them were close. I wish I could be at all the games but that’s just not possible, so I took my best guess as to which game to cover. I started at Sachem East, stayed for a few innings and made the short drive to Selden for Newfield’s game. The decision worked out well as Commack got out to an early 4-1 lead then I went to a Newfield and the score was 0-0 in the second inning. Here’s all the action. Nassau III South Side defeated Manhasset, 2-0, on the road behind a complete game, two-hit shutout by Danny Russell. This was a remarkable turn ...
by Andrew Connors We spoke to Plainedge’s head coach, Colin Fratrick about today’s win as well as what his team plans to do looking ahead at Game 2. pic.twitter.com/Jj3NTBu9Pz — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 16, 2021 The Conference 4 Varsity Baseball Championships kicked off on Wednesday afternoon with the Bethpage Golden Eagles slated to take on the Plainedge Red Devils. The stakes were high and the players’ emotions were running even higher, as both teams made it a point to come out loud, with energy. While Plainedge was able to keep this brand of high-energy baseball going for the duration of the game, Bethpage seemed to fizzle out rather quickly after they fell behind. Both teams were swinging the bat with ferocity out of the gates as they both scored in the first inning, b...
Yesterday was Game 1 of the Nassau County semifinals for each Conference. I won’t say it was filled with thrilling games (because three of them were run-rules), but it was certainly filled with outstanding individual performances. I bounced around like a mad man from Massapequa to Island Trees to Division. It took until my third stop to find a competitive game so I’m thankful I continued to search. Here’s a breakdown of each: Massapequa 10, Oceanside 0 Carter DeSousa with a walk-off single as Massapequa wins via run-rule 10-0 over Oceanside in Game 1 of the Nassau Conference I semifinals. Final: Bethpage 7, Wantagh 2 WP: James Martin Conor Burns and Patrick Dalton had 2 RBI Bethpage is 12-1 pic.twitter.com/CO61NWe8oc — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 3, 2021 Bethpage felt that they had one of the more talented teams entering the 2020 season – coming off a 14-inning loss against Division in the Class A semifinals – they returned much of that core and had many promising young players. Despite the cancellation of the season, they remain one of the top teams in the county and proved that with a 7-2 road win over perennial powerhouse Wantagh on Thursday. “We’ve been pitching well all year,” said Head Coach Rob Fisher. “We’ve been attacking hitters – we’re doing a good job on the mound, so I’m happy the way my ...
Chris Rimaldi ties the game with a 2-R triple (although it appeared to bounce off the school bus which should’ve been called a home run) pic.twitter.com/WXzRPzRy1V — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 17, 2021 by Joseph Curto On a warm and sunny day in Mineola, we saw two battle tested Nassau High school teams face off in a seesaw affair. The undefeated Bethpage Golden Eagles took on the home team Mineola Mustangs. The game featured two hard throwing righties as Bethpage gave the ball to Joe Lynn, and TJ Cox got the start for the Mustangs. In the top of the first inning, Bethpage jumped out to an early 2 run lead. Leadoff hitter Conner Burns started off the game with a hard hit single to left. After Burns stole second, he was brought home on an RBI single from Adelphi commit...
by Ben Diamond Bethpage head coach Rob Fisher has a lot of talent on his roster this coming season. This is after losing many of his top players to graduation after the cancelled last season. Players like pitcher and first baseman Lucas Seely, who Fisher stated would have been their number one starter last season had it been played, and shortstop Brian O’Boyle who plays at LIU this year, would have been their three hitter in the lineup. Other big losses include infielder and outfielder combo player Alex Purchick, and middle infielder Chris McGuggart. But even with these losses, Fisher still has a very talented team headlined by Adelphi-commit Phil D’Aguanno and Cortland-commit Pat Dalton who are both expected to be top starters for them as well as key hitters in the lineup. “I think you’re...

Both teams, part of the Long Island Boys of Summer Nassau Varsity Division, had big scoring innings midway through the action. Oceanside, despite falling back 7-1, mounted the comeback in the fourth inning and later created a cushion for themselves in the sixth. This resulted in their 10-7 victory over Bethpage. Both squads were scoreless heading into the bottom of the secon...
Division is headed back to the County Championship for the second year in a row! FINAL: Division 5 Bethpage 1 (F/14) pic.twitter.com/1DZ0DqayCK — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 25, 2019 It took 14 innings and 3.5 hours, but the Division Blue Dragons are headed back to the County Championship. In the longest postseason game of 2019, they came out on top over Bethpage by a score of 5-1. Throughout this ballgame, it was truly a “game of inches.” In the bottom of the 7th inning, Bethpage trailed by one run. This was where the fun began. Bethpage tied the game at 1-1, with the game winning run on 3rd with one out. On an infield ground ball. Ryan Spreckles slapped down the tag on what would’ve been the winning run at home, keeping the game tied. This forced endless extra innings. To be...
