They both became 11u Co-Champions of the Memorial Day Clash for ECYB after a 3-3 draw in the 5th inning. The Dream Chasers came out strong in the first two innings and poured on the pressure with three runs in the first three innings of the game. Heading into Sunday’s game both teams held a 2-0 record in the tournament. Massapequa and Bayside each defeated the LI Junior Ducks and Mayhem Baseball Cohen in their respective matchups on Saturday. The Bayside Yankees could not muster much in the opening frame. Right fielder Anthony Verde tallied their first hit with a two-out single, followed by a base-on-balls by first baseman Nick Grigonis, but they were unable to score. In the bottom half of the frame, Phenom got on the board first thanks to great base running by Dexter Muether who reached via a single, stole second, and then made it to home on a passed ball. The Knights reached the championship with a 2-0 win against Phenom Baseball while the Yankees won in a back-and-forth affair versus Titans Baseball- Fergo, 9-7.
