He came up big today with five innings in Sachem North‘s 6-4 victory in a League II showdown against Bay Shore at Bethpage Ballpark. Joshuel Rodriguez countered him for Bay Shore and both pitchers were sharp through three innings, as the game was scoreless. The Marauders got on the board in the top of the fourth on two wild pitches to take a 2-0 lead, but the Arrows answered back with a huge fifth inning. Connetquot Stays Undefeated, Cruise Past Bay Shore

Joey Savino on the 17-1 victory for Connetquot, he went six with eight strikeouts pic.twitter.com/141kSar5GQ — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) April 8, 2019 In what was actually a rematch from last year’s playoff game in which Bay Shore outlasted Connetquot, this time it was the T-Birds that came out on top. With an offense that is relentless and arguably the top pitcher in the region on the mound, it was an easy 17-1 victory for Connetquot to improve to 5-0 on the season. Joey Savino went six innings, he struck out eight and allowed one run on four hits. “We were awake today, we came out with some energy,”said Savino. “My stuff was on today I felt really good, the warm weather was good. Overall a great team win,” he added. The game was scoreless after on...

Bay Shore Hoping To Continue Momentum From Last Year’s Postseason Run

Coming off a year where they defeated #1 seed Smithtown East and No.8 Connetquot in the postseason, Bay Shore enters the 2019 season with high hopes. “Our boys believe we can beat anyone on the island and we proved that last year. Expect us to play hard and compete. Should be right in the thick of things,” said Head Coach Mike Herbst. The main obstacle Bay Shore will have is the extremely tough competition in League II. Last season, they were fortunate enough to sneak into the playoffs with a 10-10 record. Rather than having to stress about making the playoffs, they know they have the talent to comfortably earn a better seed. League II consists of Commack, Sachem North, Connetquot, Walt Whitman, Lindenhurst and Riverhead. Undoubtedly, this is one of the toughest leagues on Long...

Bay Shore Looking to Build Off Best Season in Program History

In many ways, 2016 was a banner year for the Bay Shore Marauders. They won the most games in program history (20) and also had the best record in Suffolk County. They won two playoff games, including a 13-0 shutout of Connetquot. That team lost a handful of impact players, including the League II MVP in Brian Weissert–who is now at Fordham University–but seventh year Head Coach Mike Herbst is confident that the returning players will be able to build off that success. “Fortunately the returning guys were there for the ride and learned how to win last year,” he said. Their biggest impact player should be catcher/closer Hermes Abreu. The Concordia-commit was named All-County last year, and he also was a reliable pitcher in the late innings. Herbst noted that they are ...
