Recap of the 17Sports x Axcess Baseball College Showcase

This week we hosted the sixth annual MLK Day College Showcase in conjunction with 17Sports at Max Effort. It is something I truly look forward to as the kids and college coaches have a rare mutual day off where they can be seen and hopefully find their future college. The event was well-attended as we had roughly 70 players and 21 college coaches, even with the threat of some daunting winter weather. The players went through a pro style workout of running the 40-yard dash, the outfielders and infielders went through their standard drills and the catchers were tested on their blocking and throwing to second base. From there, we went into BP which was the bulk of the afternoon as 60+ players needed to hit. We were fortunate to have the Rapsodo hitting hooked up so that the metrics were displ...

Recap of the 17 Sports x Axcess Baseball Showcase

Yesterday was our 5th annual MLK Day College Showcase – fourth that was held at the beautiful facility of Max Effort Baseball in Farmingdale. We had 68 players in attendance, 20 college coaches and 2 scouts – myself and Dan Palumbo of the Philadelphia Phillies. A number of players have already been contacted by the college coaches in attendance which is a great sign. The event went smooth and here’s a rundown of 10 players that caught my attention – by graduating class order. Chris Diesso (Hauppauge 2023) Chris Diesso (Hauppauge 2024) pic.twitter.com/TpYqJ0HCgx — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) January 16, 2023 Diesso has endured his share of bad luck with injuries which is why he’s uncommitted and he will be a steal for a college. He was up to 90.1 with ...

Recapping Wednesday’s Underclassmen Showcase

It’s not often you get some of the top uncommitted players on Long Island all in one location. Additionally, it’s not often high school players get the opportunity to play in front of 19 Division-I & II coaches. That’s what occurred on Wednesday at Long Island Indoor Sports in Ronkonkoma for the Underclassmen Showcase. Below are just some of the schools that were in attendance: St. John’s Hofstra Stony Brook LIU Princeton Seton Hall Manhattan Albany Iona Farleigh Dickinson Molloy AIC Felician 50 players were in attendance which made for an outstanding ratio of coaches: players. Below are some players that really caught my attention and stood out. AJ Aschettino (Rocky Point 2024) AJ Aschettino (Rocky Point 2024) 79 mph pic.twitter.com/QaABKzuwcq — Axcess Baseball...

Recap of Yesterday’s College Baseball Showcase

Yesterday’s college showcase featured more than 60 players performing in front of 20 college coaches and two pro scouts at Max Effort Baseball. Despite the ominous weather forecast, we were able to forge on and get the event in. Below are some of the standout performers from the day. They are listed in alphabetical order. Aidan Bardi (Wantagh 2024) Aidan Bardi (Wantagh 2024) put himself on the map with 18 home runs in a single week in Cooperstown. Last year he was the only freshman to be named All-County. Div-I prospect pic.twitter.com/tmPVk4YPyl — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) January 17, 2022 Bardi is an absolute stud. But don’t take my word for it. He proved it on the field by being the only freshman to be named All-County, as he hit .400 for Wantagh. He also did it w...

Recap of Yesterday’s Axcess Baseball x Diamond Spikes Showcase

Yesterday was our annual joint showcase with the Diamond Spikes. We couldn’t have asked for a better day – it was absolutely perfect weather for a fall baseball which was a great start. I cannot stress enough that this was a golden opportunity for 2022 and 2023 graduates to get some exposure and potentially find their home for college. There was a near 4:1 college coach to player ratio, and many of the schools were looking for 2022 immediate impact players that could also potentially receive scholarship money. Not sure if there’s anything more of a slam dunk than that scenario. Additionally, with Larry Izzo of the NY Mets in attendance, that meant two pro scouts had eyes on the players. For the players that took advantage of this opportunity, they were rewarded with showc...

Who Were The Top Performers at Monday’s College Showcase

For the second year, we partnered with Diamond Spikes Baseball and MaX Effort Baseball to host a college showcase on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The feel was much different in the pandemic world than last year. We had roughly half the players – who had their masks on throughout the duration of the event – and there was no spectators allowed aside from the 20 college coaches. I feel extremely fortunate that we were able to pull off the event despite the pandemic and I truly believe it will benefit many of the players who attended. The 2023s and 2024s were able to get their first or second experience playing in front of college coaches with every move and metric documented. For the 2021s and 2022s, they will certainly garner some interest from the coaches that were in attendance....

Register For MLK Day Showcase

For the third year, we will be co-hosting our Martin Luther King Day Showcase in conjunction with Diamond Spikes Baseball at MaX Effort Baseball in Farmingdale. The event has been well-attended the previous two years and with the uncertainty regarding the high school baseball season, college exposure is even more important than ever. Last year’s event featured over 80 players and 22 college coaches. We also co-hosted a college showcase in September which featured closed to 80 players and 20 college coaches. We will have a Rapsodo for pitchers as well as hitters – which further legitimizes the metrics to send to college coaches. With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, we will be separating the players into two sessions; position players and pitchers in an effort to stay compli...

Recapping Saturday’s College Showcase

We were fortunate to have a perfect September day for our showcase on Saturday at Baldwin Park. We had about 70 players and 20 colleges represented. I will go over some of the top performers from the event. Special thanks to the Italian American Baseball Foundation for sponsoring the event. Nick Giardino (Clarke 2022) The younger brother of Chris – entering his freshman year at Molloy College – he is a promising young player as well. I recently watched Nick fire a complete game during a Boys of Summer league game. One of the best compliments you can give a ballplayer is that he looks like he belongs. Nick looked like that when he pitched the complete game and he was one of the best performers in attendance on Saturday. He is quite an athlete – displaying some wheels with ...

Recap of the Axcess Baseball Showcase

Every time we have hosted some sort of an event whether it be the Awards Banquet, Home Run Derby or All-Star Game we’ve dealt with some unique circumstance that nearly undermined it. We’ve had Dowling College unexpectedly closing, 105 degree temperatures, monsoons, Polar Vortex’s and grumpy school officials. So it’s no surprise we would be handed another curveball yesterday. Of course, a massive storm rolls through western Suffolk County that nearly forced us to cancel our inaugural Showcase at Ducks Stadium. Nevertheless, we were able to continue the event and for that I’m certainly fortunate. We had 78 players and 17 college coaches in attendance at the preeminent ballfield on Long Island. Here is the list of schools that were in attendance: Franklin Pierce ...
