Jack Parenty continued his torrent hitting with a 4-5 performance with an RBI and Brett Tenuto was 3-3 with two RBI. Chad Lee was awarded his first win of the season, as he tossed 4.1 scoreless innings. He was relieved by three Stony Brook pitchers who combined to toss the next 4.2 innings while allowing two earned runs. The score was 5-3 entering the ninth inning when the Seawolves broke the game open with a seven-run inning. The Seawolves amassed 14-hits and five stolen bases on the day. Josh Barry was awarded his first save of the season.
It had the looks of a lopsided affair in favor of CW Post after a two-run second inning which featured some sloppy defense. Additionally, the Panther starter, Nick Batas making his first collegiate start, was injured by a comebacker which forced him to leave the game. His replacement, sophomore Mike Cranston, did a commendable job keeping CW Post at bay and allowing the Panthers an opportunity to come back. Cranston tossed three innings while yielding only one run. John Campbell’s RBI single cut the deficit to 2-1 in favor of Post. Game one went to Bridgeport by the score of 6-2. They got out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first and tacked on runs on the second and third innings. From that point on, Dowling was forced to play catch up. They scored two in the sixth on RBI singles form JC Brandmaier and Matt Benedetto. Andrew Abreu had two hits and a run scored. Adam Brown took the loss as he drops to 2-3 on the season. Game two was scoreless into the fifth, until Dowling scored three thanks to RBI singles by Mike Rizz and Daniel Massi. Farmingdale: The Rams cruised by Maritime both games of the DH by scores of 16-9 and 10-6. In the first game, Anthony Eilers relieved Chris Dragone, who lasted just 0.2 innings, and tossed the next 4.1 innings. The Rams bats came to play, with David Zilnicki, Danny Paccione and Anthony Alvino all going yard during a 13-hit performance. Paccione, Ron Remi and Rom Rydzewski all had three hits in the game. In the first game it was senior Jeff Andersen who dominated for 7.1 innings, allowing only six hits and one walk while striking out three. He left with a 1-0 lead, which was scored by junior John Campbell on a fielder’s choice. The run stood up as the Panthers gave the ball to Dillon McNamara who continued his incredible scoreless streak of 2013 and saved his seventh game of the year with 1.2 shutout innings. Farmingdale State: The Rams hosted Mount Saint Mary at Farmingdale for a Skyline Conference double header. Farmingdale had a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the eighth, when David Zilnicki hit an inside-the-park grand slam to put any realistic comeback thoughts to rest. Mike Dolce was efficient today, going 6.1 innings with six K’s, three hits and only one earned run to keep his record a perfect 3-0 on the year. Old Westbury took down Yeshiva in a double header at Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex yesterday. The Panthers dominated both games, winning 30-1 and 16-0. In the first game, the Panthers scored a run in every inning with eight batters having multi-hit games. One of those which came from Alexander Abanavas, who lead the team in RBI’s, with five. James Roubal stayed unbeaten, tossing five innings and allowing only two hits. Of the 15 batter Roubal got out, 14 where by strikeout. You can’t expect to be competitive allowing 22 hits and committing 12 errors, like Yeshiva did. This game was called in the seventh due to run rule. Molloy improves to 11-18(5-4 ECC) while top seeded St. Thomas falls to 16-8(6-3 ECC). After the Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lions exploded for 14 runs over the next six. Juan Borbon went 2-2 with two walks, scored four runs and four RBI’s, three of which off a bases loaded triple to spark the offensive outburst in third inning. The Old Westbury Panthers out-pitched Manhattanville College in a 3-2 pitchers duel on Tuesday at Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. In this non-conference game, Old Westbury improves to 8-11, while the Valiants drop to 5-15. Manhattanville opened the third inning with three straight singles, allowing them to jump ahead with a 2-0 lead. Old Westbury answered back in the bottom of the third with an RBI fielders choice by Centerfielder, Jacob Coners. It stayed 2-1, until the bottom of the sixth, where the Panthers pounced to a 3-2 lead. The two runs were scored from a sac-fly and an error from the shortstop. Matt Abramowitz was the pitcher on the long side as he drops to 0-3 on the season. The bright spots for the Panthers was Brandon Stahl’s 4-4 performance as well as a three hit and five RBI day from first baseman Anthony Zarrella. Freshman Jonathon Mulford got the start for the Panthers, he had previously been untouchable through his first 23 innings. He was touched up for nine hits and seven runs in four innings of work. Abramowitz came on and gave up two runs in his one inning of work. Adelphi scored two runs in the ninth inning but at that point it was too little too late as the Panthers fell to 11-12-1. NYIT took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a bases loaded walk by Greg Sarra. He ended up settling down in his first collegiate start to throw three innings without allowing an earned run. The Pride ended up posting three-run innings in the second, fourth and eighth innings to take a commanding lead. The offense was led by Matt Reistetter who had three hits and six RBI. Robbie Cafiero and Austin Nyman also posted multiple hit days and recorded an RBI. Nick Kozlowski tossed three scoreless innings in relief and John Schilt closed it out. The Pride move to 13-16 on the season and NYIT falls to 2-19.
