Instead they will be playing them in the loser’s bracket in just the second game. After getting shutout yesterday by St. Thomas Aquinas, they are now 46-3 on the season. They were defeated 12-2 despite RPI committing five errors in the field.Tyler Kapela, the winning pitcher in the do-or-die Skyline Conference title game, was not as sharp today. He pitched 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits and seven ER. He was tagged for his second loss of the season.With the score 3-0 after four innings, RPI broke it open with a five-spot in the fifth on four walks and three hits. They were defeated 5-2 this afternoon by Stonehill College and now face elimination.Kyle DeMeo got the start for the Golden Lions and he was touched up in the first inning for a three spot. This is their first appearance in the regionals since 2010, while Dowling qualified last season.Where are they from?Stonehill is located in North Easton, MA. NYIT (14-30)They won 10 more games this year than last season, thanks in large part to the emergence of Louis Mele and Josh Canabal at the plate but the pitching compiled a 7.53 ERA and it was just not enough to creep towards .500. 9. Hofstra (19-29)Steven Foster, Chris Hardardt and Brad Witkowski all hit over .300 (with Foster compiling an impressive .891 OPS) and were the bright spots for the Pride. Dowling Earns No. 5 Seed in East Regional

Hold your phone–it’s not over yet! For the second straight year the Dowling Golden Lions have earned a spot in the East Regional despite not winning the ECC Conference due to their strong 27-15 record. They will take on No. 2 Stonehill in the first round, who is currently 33-13. Last season, Dowling won the first three games of the tournament behind complete game by Tyler Badamo, Tom Bammann and JJ Bessell but were defeated in consecutive games by St. Thomas Aquinas. They will be the No. 6 seed despite winning the ECC Conference and will draw a tough Franklin Pierce team who is 46-2 and have not lost since March 25.

Jake DeCarli and the No. 4 LIU Post Travel to Uniondale to Take on No. 1 Dowling

Today is the first round of the ECC tournament with No. 4 LIU Post taking on No. 1 Dowling. Those rankings can be thrown out in a match up like this. The team’s are very familiar with eachother, having played a four-game series less than one month ago. Pace will host Adelphi today at 1 pm in the first round of the Northeast-10 playoffs. The Setters (21-17, 12-8) are the No. 1 seed in the southwest division of the conference. The two teams met on March 25 and the Setters were victorious 11-1. Since then, the Panthers are a much improved team. Additionally, they are very dangerous team with Jonathon Mulford on the mound. He last pitched on Saturday, so this would be only three days rest for him. Coach Scala is opting to pitch sophomore T.J. Santiago. He’s had a tough year, he is currently 0-4 with a 5.28 ERA.
