Surreal. pic.twitter.com/sfJCdNx3Tb — Marcus Stroman (@MStrooo6) June 7, 2015 He hasn’t played in a game this year, but his face was all over Toronto today. The first 20,000 fans at the Rogers Centre were given a Marcus Stroman bobblehead. The injured ace with the affable personality even brought some magic to the Blue Jays–as they swept the Houston Astros on a two-run single by Chris Colabello. Stroman is planning on returning to the field by September in hopes of leading the Blue Jays to the playoffs for the first time their back-to-back World Series in 1992-’93. He has been sidelined since tearing his ACL during Spring Training on a fluke incident. In addition to rehabbing, he is also working towards completing his degree at Duke University. Today is a bittersweet day for baseball on the island, as well as Baseball on the Island. While it is a day of jubilance for Connetquot and Division HS as they celebrate being crowned the Long Island Champions, there will be no more high school or colleges games played on the island. From February 13, the day that Stony Brook’s season began, until today, Baseball on the Island generated close to 100,000 views and countless interactions on Twitter. I would be lying if I said I anticipated this when I began doing this as a hobby. After sitting back and noticing what type of buzz was being generated, I knew this was worth pursuing. 2015 has been terrific thus far, but who said it has to end? There are plenty of events to look forward to such as the Grand Slam Challenge, Showcases, Hampt...

They also won the Long Island Championship in 2011. Later in the day, Connetquot edged MacArthur 3-2 behind a combination of Tim Monti and Travis Bruinsma. The latter recorded the final seven outs and earned his 13th victory of the season–a program record and Long Island high. Both of the winning teams now advance to the NYS Tournament. Connetquot will play Mamaroneck on Saturday as they look to become the first Long Island Class AA team to win the state tournament since Lindenhurst in 2010. [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeBI8BIyr44]Nobody thought the battle for Suffolk County supremacy on the diamond would be settled in two games. Not the fans and definitely not the players on Ward Melville–who hadn’t lost a game at home all year.No. 2 Ward Melville defeated top-seeded Connetquot in a classic game on a walk-off solo shot by Dom Lamonica–who now has two walk-off homers this postseason.“I was ready for the first fastball he was going to give me,” said Lamonica. “I swung as hard as I could and it felt great. Photo Credit: Daniel De Mato No. 1 ranked Mattituck cruised past Babylon 11-6 to capture a consecutive Suffolk County Class B title. If someone asked who owns the best record in Suffolk County, it might not be your first guess to say a League 8 school, but they have done just that by improving to 23-1 on the season. Their only loss came on May 5 against this same Babylon team by the score of 3-2. They got redemption on them on Tuesday with a 7-0 shutout behind Joe Tardif‘s six shutout innings. He struck out seven batters and allowed only two hits. Tardif also hit a three-run home run which accounted for all the offensive support he would need. In yesterday’s game, Chris Dwyer went 4-for-4, drove in four runs and smacked a home run and Tardif drove in three more runs. They opene...
