Center fielder Thomas Solnick would score Podmore on a double to open the scoring in favor of the Cyclones.   The Phenom would tie the game in the second inning courtesy of center fielder Cooper Scheriff, who showcased some heads-up baserunning.  James Henchy was given the starting nod for Massapequa and delivered two innings of one-run ball with three punchouts. GAME RECAP: Bayside Yankees and Phenom Battle It Out to a 5-5 Tie

Tie Game pic.twitter.com/2zIHNPLscs — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 1, 2023 This was a hard-fought game that finished in a stalemate.   The Bayside Yankees could not muster much in the opening frame. Right fielder Anthony Verde tallied their first hit with a two-out single, followed by a base-on-balls by first baseman Nick Grigonis, but they were unable to score.    In the bottom half of the frame, Phenom got on the board first thanks to great base running by Dexter Muether who reached via a single, stole second, and then made it to home on a passed ball.   Muether started the game for Phenom and delivered five innings of three-run ball.  Along the way, he would strike out three batters with one caught looking.   Jesse Baldassare would spark th...

by Andy Smith Division-I: Stony Brook: The Seawolves jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead thanks to an RBI triple by Evan Giordano, RBI ground out by Shane Paradine and RBI single by Derek Yalon. Unfortunately, that was all for the Stony Brook offense as Delaware’s starting pitcher, Joey Silan, settled in and fired 7 strong innings to earn the W. Wyatt Nelson locked down the 2 inning save.Josh O’Neill was tagged with the loss as he allowed 6 runs over 6.2 innings with five walks and four strikeouts. Evan Giordano and Matt Brown-Eiring each had two hits for Stony Brook who drop to 19-25 on the season and 10-13 in CAA play. These teams will finish up their series on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles got to Nick Rizzo in the first inning and scored three runs off a two-run triple by first baseman Mike Oliveto, who was able to round home plate off a throwing error.  The Redmen responded in the bottom half of the frame by putting up four runs to give them a one-run lead. Conk was resilient today and got out of a few jams with runners in scoring position multiple times to keep this game scoreless. by Andy Smith Stony Brook 5, Elon 18 It was a night to forget for Stony Brook, as they were defeated 18-5 by host Elon University. The game was actually 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth before the Phoenix offense exploded for two runs in the fifth, seven in the sixth, three in the seventh and five in the eighth innings. Evan Giordano led the way for the Seawolves, going 4-for-4, he now has 57 hits on the season. Evan Fox, Shane Paradine and Derek Yalon each had two hits as well.
