It’s been four years since Michael Dolce recorded a 2.1 inning save over Old Westbury to clinch the seventh consecutive Skyline Conference for the Farmingdale State Rams. Since then, the conference championship has eluded them, despite playing in the championship game in 2015 and ’16. The 2018 team opens up on Sunday, as they host New Rochelle in a DH and they are ready to roll. Their leading hitter from last year, OF Vinny Rice (.413/.488/.541) cited the team’s camaraderie as a reason for their optimism entering the new season. “I love this group,” he said. “We are close-knit group, close-knit bunch of guys. We have a lot of good ball players too–a lot of guys that are going to fly under-the-radar.” Speaking on their roster composition, he f...
Longtime Suffolk CC Head Coach Eric Brown will be receiving our 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award at our Awards Banquet on Saturday, January 6. He guided his teams to 7 NJCAA World Series and won 685 games during his 29-year tenure. He was named to the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2014. Last year’s recipient was Connetquot HC Bob Ambrosini. The 2017 Suffolk CC team had a number of standout players; Joseph Mattero, Shawn Blasberg and Joseph Murphy will all be receiving All-Long Island Awards for their outstanding achievements on the field. The previous year, Kris Killackey was named our 2016 Cy Young Award winner for his undefeated season for Coach Brown as they marched through Region XV and into the World Series. We are planning an evening to remember with special guests at the beautiful Vill...

For a span of seven years, winning a Skyline Conference championship was an annual tradition for the Farmingdale State team. I was a part of two of those titles, and there was three more after that. Something strange happened in 2015–someone else was crowned champions (Old Westbury). Then it happened again in 2016 (St. Joseph’s). And again this past year (Maritime). As the calendar approaches 2018, the Rams will be looking to return to the mountain top, a spot that was so familiar for the program. They will have to do so without two of their critical players from last season; Matt Seelinger and Dalton McCarthy, who both graduated. Seelinger was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates, becoming the first player selected in the MLB Draft since 1979. I was down at their intrasquad today...
Coach Fucarino speaking about his 2017-’18 team pic.twitter.com/FzIiO7mriL Axcess Baseball (@axcessbaseball) September 14, 2017 Today I was down at Mitchel Field in Uniondale to get a good look at the team Molloy will be going to battle with during the upcoming 2018 season. After struggling during the early part of the 2017, they caught fire in the latter portion of the season and made a playoff run. They made it to the ECC championship, but ultimately had their season cut off by LIU Post; who were crowned champs. That team graduated 11 seniors, including several of their impact guys; notably workhorse Ron Bauer, LHP Dominic Danetti, SS Brian Murphy, INF Michael Rahn, INF Kevin Podell, OF Anthony Alberghina and OF Anthony Galanoudis. Despite the large group of outgoing seniors...
