Brett Malm talks about his 2-Run HR that jump started the scorching hot Adelphi offense. pic.twitter.com/Gg803ldSBk — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) March 20, 2019 Adelphi had no problem handling the talented NYIT pitching staff, as they cruised to a 9-3 victory on Wednesday afternoon. After putting up a ten-spot yesterday against Molloy, Adelphi wasted no time getting back in the run column. To start things off, Brett Malm launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 1st inning, giving them an early lead. Malm finished 3-5 on the day with 2 RBI. “We had a good jump out of the game today with a 2-run home run in the 1st inning that helped my team get on the board early,” said Malm. “We kept it going from yesterday and we’re going to keep this momentum going ...
Adelphi Head Coach Dom Scala discusses how his team overcame the flu bug and their 10-5 victory over Molloy today pic.twitter.com/0mFiNLhEG8 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) March 19, 2019 Over the past week, several members of the Adelphi Panthers have been relegated to the bench due to flu-like symptoms. Being in close quarters, one player can cause a number of others to get sick and that was a major reason for their recent defeats on their annual trip to Florida. Fortunately, getting back to New York was exactly the spark the offense needed to get back on track as they used the long ball to power past local rival, Molloy College, by the score of 10-5. Lawrence Cicileo continued his red-hot start to the season with a two-run first inning HR to score Brett Malm and give the Panthers...
With a small window to get the game in on Sunday, Adelphi made the call to schedule a matinee against St. Thomas Aquinas that had been originally cancelled due to the forecast. And with a loaded roster and fresh pitching staff, can you blame them for being excited? They continued the red-hot start to their season with a 7-2 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. The reigning ECC Champs have stumbled out of the gate and the Panthers took full advantage; sweeping a mini weekend series. Senior Mike Demarest got the start, he was the beneficiary of a four-run first inning by the Panthers offense that included an RBI single by Lawrence Cicileo (more on him later), a bases loaded walk by Tyler Becker and a two-run single by Lucas Terwilliger. Demarest was terrific for four innings of work, he used two...
1B Thomas Colombo hit .303 with 5 HR last season and will be a middle of the order bat once again pic.twitter.com/FMeGTly77Q — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) October 23, 2018 If not for an improbable victory by Merrimack over New Haven in the NE-10 Championship, it would’ve been Adelphi receiving an at-large bid in the NCAA East Regional. Nevertheless, it was a 26-win season for Dom Scala’s crew in his 15th year at helm. They are locked and loaded for another playoff run, and this year’s team features even more fire power on offense and a staff loaded with more power arms than last year’s unit. Leading the offensive charge is a group of upperclassmen with a track record of success. 1B Thomas Colombo, 2B Brett Malm, SS Tyler Becker, 3B Lucas Terwilliger and CF ...
When TJ Santiago is on the hill, the Adelphi Panthers are a tough team to beat. The Panthers’ ace fired 5.2 IP, allowing zero earned runs with five strike outs in Adelphi’s 8-5 win over NE-10 rival New Haven. “Fastball and splitter were the duo today,” said the Linden, N.J. native. The Panthers offense got off to a quick start against Vincent Aprea (Comsewogue ’13) with a three-spot in the first inning. Eric Hassell ripped an RBI single to drive in Rob Vani. After the Panthers got an unearned run across the plate, Brett Malm drove in Brandon Morse with an RBI single. Santiago was very sharp out of the gate, allowing only one hit through four innings. In the bottom of the fourth, the Panthers broke through with four more runs. Kory Cassara smacked an opposite f...
Through out the season, I will be posting my observations from the games I attend from a scout’s perspective. It will not always feature positive reviews, but they will be what I gather from my years of watching the game. Here’s a rundown of a few of the top players in yesterday’s game: TJ Santiago: It was the first time I’ve watched him in-person. He was every bit of the hype. He has a 3/4 delivery but is no gimmick. Velocity was 87-89, his splitter is a true weapon at 82 MPH and his slider was 77 MPH. He sustained his velocity through 7 innings–which is even more impressive that it’s his first outing of the season and it was February 28. Santiago also showed a lot of fire. There was a lot of intensity after his big strike outs. The one downside was tha...

Luckily for the Panthers, they have a ton of talent to help guide the way for a successful 2017 season. Strengths As we all know, the heart of every team be...
Player Name: Michael Ceparano School: Adelphi Position: LHP Michael is a 6’0″ graduate of Half Hollow Hills East HS. He threw 38.1 IP last season with 31 strikeouts and a 3-4 record. From the stretch position he gets set with his back leg bent. He keeps his glove parallel to the ground. He keeps his eyes locked on the target through out the delivery. He has a legkick that is just above the belt. He keeps his body closed with his leg tucked towards second base and his foot pointed down. Michael gets great drive from his back leg as it drops and drives towards home plate. The front leg goes directly towards home and his arm circle is pretty long. He lands on line with home plate and throws directly over the top. He is max-effort pitcher, and lands off to third base as many southp...
Jesse Borek — Staff Writer GARDEN CITY, New York — It took Mother Nature long enough to relent and allow the Adelphi Panthers to have their home opener, but it was worth every waking moment as the club swept Assumption College to inch closer back to the .500 mark, now sitting at 4-5 on the year. In the opener, junior ace Jonathon Mulford took to the hill, and outside of a bumpy first inning, was brilliant. After serving up a three-run home run in the opening frame, Mulford would shut down the Greyhound offense up until his exit from the contest. Going seven innings strong, Mulford threw a whopping 121 pitches on Sunday afternoon. Yet, he never truly seemed to lose a lot of velocity on his fastball, only opting for more curveballs as the game progressed. Over those seven fram...
