He led Dowling to another victory, this time a 9-4 rout of Queens. After three seasons marred with high walk totals, the 6’4″ graduate of Sayville HS is making it easily to forget about the starting rotation of last season. “Those guys were great last year,” said Butler. “I’m just trying to win, you know. If I could do what they did last year that would be great. If not, as long as we keep winning, I’ll take it any way I can get it,” he added.They certainly have been winning. Cody McPartland, who was nominated for the Cy Young of March, padded his stats with another seven dominant innings, allowing only one run on seven hits, three walks while striking out four batters to improve to 2-0. The game was scoreless through four innings, when Queens broke through with a run in the fifth on a sac fly to right field.It didn’t take long for the Golden Lions to respond. They won the first game 2-1 on a walk-off two-run single by Robert Chavarria which scored Cole Peragine and pinch runner Billy McLean.Daniel Zamora threw a seven inning complete game. He allowed only one run, struck out nine, walked two and allowed four hits. It was his third win of the season. The offense was stagnant for six innings, but they came through when it mattered most. Jack Parenty added two more hits–he is off to a tremendous start this season with 29 hits already.Division-II:Dowling also split their DH with Wilmington to bring their record to 11-4. Dowling Stays Hot With 10-4 Win Over Bloomfield

Photo Credit: Vinny Messana The Dowling Golden Lions stayed hot with an easy 10-4 win over Bloomfield in the first game of a double header on Sunday. They got out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on a bases loaded walk by Dylan Piscitelli, followed by an RBI single by Chris Appell.They employed a pitcher-by-committee method as Cody McPartland started and threw three shutout innings. He was relieved by Nick Persad, who contributed two shutout innings. Thomas Bashen allowed 3 ER in his 1.2 innings but Robert Rose closed the door with 0.1 innings.The difference in the game was a five-run fourth inning by the Golden Lions. Dowling Rolls Over Adelphi

Photo Credit: Vinny Messana Dowling did some spring cleaning at their home field today in the form of a 12-1 victory over fellow Division-II Long Island program Adelphi. The Golden Lions wasted no time putting up a three spot in the first. Dan Parisi singled home Jon Cruz,  executed a double steal which scored RJ Going and then came around on a wild pitch by Michael Tarpey (4 IP, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 K). They added one in the second on an RBI ground by Adam Schuster. He also sparked another rally in the fifth inning when he drove in Cruz with an RBI triple.
