But for Head Coach, Tom Tuttle, the losses in the Long Island Championships sting. “There’s no question it stings,” said Tuttle, who has been at the helm since 2007. “In both Long Island Championships, we lost in the last inning. Out of 14 innings, we had two bad innings. Twice we didn’t make a defensive play. The unfortunate thing is, we are built to win a two of three. The...

However, head coach Robert Moore, who is entering his 11th season in charge of the Bulldogs, complimented his team for their fight despite the challenges. “The lack of hitting put us in a situation basically every game where we had to pitch to perfection.” Moore said. “We had some good pitching performances, especially by Matt Curto, who’s at Adelphi now. In the big picture, when you’re in a league as t...
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Axcess Baseball (@axcess_baseball) Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Max Edelman It was a strong 2024 season for The Wheatley School Wildcats. The team, led by head coach David Burke, went on a remarkable run, before ultimately losing in the state regional finals. “It went pretty well.” Burke said. “We ended up losing in the state regionals to Spackenkill. We won the Nassau County and Long Island B championships last season. Anytime you have a true ace, a guy that’s a trained pitcher that can lead your team you get excited about what could happen and I knew the caliber that we had and the supporting cast that we had on the team that we were going to be very competitive. So t...
Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Max Edelman All eyes on Long Island will be on the Pat-Med Raiders in 2025. Speaking of the number 25, head coach Anthony Frascogna will be entering his 25th year in charge of the Raiders. In his 24th season, Frascogna looked back on what he believed was a strong season for his team. “We played well.” Frascgona said. “We made the playoffs, finished 12-11 overall. We won a playoff game and then we got knocked out by William Floyd.” Last year’s Raiders team featured six seniors who started on varsity, with a number of them continuing to play ball in college. Including Rob Melo who is playing at Army, David Granucci who’s at SUNY Maritime and Nick Cadolino who’s playing at SUNY Polytechnic. Thi...

Despite not finishing the year on top, Gambino believed that his team went above and beyond last season. “I think we exceeded expectatio...
Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Tucker Terranova In an era where high school and collegiate baseball teams constantly battle roster turnover, Sayville Head Coach Joe Esposito enters his eighth season with a rare advantage—continuity. While many programs spend the early months of the season searching for stability, Esposito’s squad returns with experience, chemistry, and a proven ability to deliver in high-pressure moments. Sayville has established itself as a Suffolk County powerhouse, consistently finishing among the top teams over the last six seasons, including a Long Island Championship in 2019. Now, with one of the most seasoned rosters on the island, expectations are high for another deep postseason run. “All of the returnin...

After winning the Long Island Championship in 2022 and securing the County Title in 2023, the Royals faced a tough loss in the 2024 County Finals. Despite the defeat, Coach Jesse Rosen remains optimistic about t...
Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Max Edelman Fresh off of a season in which they won the Catholic League and New York State Championship, the Holy Trinity Titans very narrowly missed going back-to-back in 2024. After an 18-9 season, the Titans fell just short of their goal of repeating after a championship loss to St Anthony’s. With the success that the Titans have enjoyed in recent years, it’s no surprise that a number of their players are continuing their baseball careers following their high school graduation at the college level, including a handful of 2024 graduates. They include Tyler Cook (Troy), Gabe Klarikaitis (Molloy), Andrew Heppner (Pace), Andrew Sinclair (University of Bridgeport) and Ryan Czyz (University of St. Jos...
Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Vin Messana Babylon has quickly become one of the better small schools on Long Island. They made a run at perfect season in 2023 – right up until Game 2 of the Suffolk County Finals. They ultimately finished as the Class B Long Island Champs with a thrilling win over Seaford at St. Joseph’s University. They followed that up with another Suffolk County Championship last year – although they did lose to Wheatley, 3-1, in the Long Island Championship at Farmingdale State College. Unfortunately for Babylon, in addition to losing the game, Coach Michael Birnbaum noted that their ace starting pitcher, Aidan Kistner, suffered an injury to his UCL that day and he will not be pitching in 20...

In 2024, through a combination of outstanding clutch performances from their upperclassmen, some timely contributions from the depth of the roster, great coaching decisions and good fortunes, they were able to defeat Port Washington in the Nassau County Class AAA County Finals to be crowned champs for first time in 34 years. “It comes down to the group of guys we had,” said longtime head coach ...
