by Gabe Zoda Got to chat with WP Carson Wengrovsky after his performance on the mound. pic.twitter.com/q9GfuKA3Q7 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 5, 2021 All good things come to an end and the same thing can be said about the 4th of July Stars and Stripes Tournament. Yesterday, the finals took place between the Titans-Messina and the 495 Wolfpack. For the Wolfpack, this game served as a doubleheader as they played and beat the Jr. Ducks right before they took on the Titans. That game gave the Wolfpack some momentum going into the finals. The Titans on the other hand were ready to go and ready to take home the championship. They would show how ready they were in this game as they would look dominant in this championship game. The Titans would end up winning by a score of 9-1 i...
by Nicholas Cipolla Jason Creegan Scores the game winning run on a wild pitch to give the Titans an incredible comeback win over the Longhorns pic.twitter.com/hszoXU61qq — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 4, 2021 The Titans entered the bottom of the 5th inning down by five runs and not having any answers for the Longhorns bats or Grayson Aristy. That’s when everything changed and the Titans made an incredible comeback after looking dead in the water the previous few innings. The first 4 and a half innings were all Longhorns. Starting pitcher Grayson Aristy executed a perfect suicide squeeze to give his team an early 1-0 game in the top of the second. That same inning, the Longhorns pulled off a nicely executed first and third double steal to make it a 2-0 lead. A few pitches late...
by Nick Cipolla Final: Renegades: 9 Jr Ducks: 1 pic.twitter.com/0xQwWxfM0l — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 4, 2021 These kids from Queens can hit. The renegades attacked early and that’s all they needed to do in order to get a win over the Long Island Jr Ducks. The first batter of the game, Sal Romano, reached on a hit by a pitch. He stole second and then was knocked in by Joey LaSala on a single to left field. LaSala scored on a pickoff play where the ball went into the outfield and then was thrown out of play. Dylan Donofrio got on base and made his way to third before scoring on a wild pitch, which was ball four to the batter to make it 3-0. A few battwes later, Niko Frantzeskakis knocked in two more runs to make it 5-0. They scored all five of those runs before an out...
by Nicholas Cipolla Heads up base running from Connor Ackerman to tie the game at 7 in the bottom of the third inning. pic.twitter.com/5FBeKMCG0l — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 3, 2021 Once again, mother nature has ruined a potentially exciting game of baseball. In an anticlimactic and unfortunate ending, the rain proved to be coming down too hard for the game to continue on, leaving the game tied up at 7. Despite only lasting four quick innings, there was plenty of action in this game. In the bottom of the first inning, East Meadow first baseman Dom Longardino stepped up to the plate and crushed a ball way over the wall in left center. The ball nearly cleared a fence that was 80 or so feet from the left center wall, leaving everyone who saw it in disbelief. That home run spar...
by Gabe Zoda Spoke with coach Brandon Stein for the LIB True Diamond squad after their 10-4 victory over the LI Storm. pic.twitter.com/DKWKLgOzZE — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 3, 2021 Yesterday kicked off the 4th of July Stars and Stripes Tournament. In the 15u section, the LI Storm played against the LIB True Diamond. On a rainy day, these two squads seemed to find the perfect spot to play at Plainedge HS for their matchup. At the end of the day, LIB True Diamond would take the game by a score of 10-4. For most of the game, though, it was very close. One inning would end up changing all of that. The first inning would go by without any runs being scored. Starting Pitchers,(LP) Jimmy Stroehlien for the Storm and (WP) Danny Onorato for LIB True Diamond were able to make batt...
